I know coolsat 5000 is good one but you can't jtag if some thing goes wrong. In my mind fortech ultra or pantech 2500a is good one because you can find files and you can jtag it using the 20 pin fta jtag. Please give me advice if any other recvier is better than what i mention, which can be jtag using the 20 pin and easy to find program in the web.
Thanks

I really like coolsat 5000, because of the easy setup and i like the epg on it. I also know on mine it provides power enough for my superdish, (some other recievers dont do that).
Pansat3500sd, has ONE flaw that i know is the freaking time issue. it keeps reseting. But I like the SD memory slot in it for easy updates. and set up is also easy (not as good as coolsat in my opinion).
Cant say about viewsat dont have that one. heard its also good one.
I think i believe is that coolsat and pansat3500 are overpriced at 180+. Try Captiveworks 600s Premium. It has all of the features with GREAT EPG that loads in 10 min!!!! and the price you cant beat i saw a place for under 160!!! with free shipping.

How is the support for coolsat. I heard only norwayan give support. What happen if they don't make any more program? I heard pansat 3500 they give you lot of support but the problem is there might be lot of bins that kill the reciver.Other hand you can jtag the pansat 3500. If coolsat gives you good support then i will buy the coolsat 6000. How is the support for cw 600? I have fortech ultra, it works good but the support is not good, so i put the pansat 2500 a clone bin which is 273t. The problem with the fortch is after you load the bin it takes close to 40 minutes to scan the channel. Any suggestion for a good recvier that can scan fast like less than 10 minutes and has a good support and jtag capabilities?

For what I hear, Coolsat is dead... With Pansat, you have to be carefull and read a lot to find which one is the "clean" bin... I do not know why you said that the "support" for Fortec is not good, when Fortec itself does not support his own receivers, so we (I Am a Fortec Ultra "lover") and I do not spend 40 minutes uploadidng the channels (I believe you, but...???) In addition, like I said before, if you read a lot you will find the good and clean files to upload to any Pansat-Fortec unit. Good Luck in your quest. Let us know!!!

The support for CW 600s is great so far. I am really enjoying the reciever.
Coolsat support has been dead since the release of their last 1.50 bin. i wish they would use the full potential of the ird and get new bins like CW does.
Pansat support is not bad but like i said i dont like the setup on it and i hate to readjust the time.

Viewsat Extreme Has Bad Review There Is A Lot Problem With The System I Am Going To Check Out The Platinum Review
You folks might want to read up on current events and consider whether or not to even invest in FTA. Seems there is a way to really fuck with them after all. So far it's just on Bev, but if the counter measures work even half as good as it looks like they will, Dish will follow suit. FTA's performance is going to spotty at best in the future most likely.
JT is right, wait to buy any FTA. I would not want to buy and find out in a month that dish does the same and are out the money now.

get a dishnet receiver if watching dishnet , and help dishnet to grow their sell , not the fta receiver where your money is going to korea

My advice to you would be to look at the current situation with channels being blacked out, then do some reading. Alot of fta's probably wont work much longer due to memory restrictions, some carded fta's may (like a 3500s), but theres never a guarantee in this hobby. you pay your money and take your chances. At this point if I were you, I would look into a 4900, a rom 102 , a nexus unlocker, a buffered jtag and an iso loader. The 102 i would try to get soon before prices go through the roof, cause if that turns out to be the only thing to work, rest assured they will. We all seen that with the hu .
Good luck and enjoy the hobby.

i have the coolsat 5000 and i love it
dont know bout the jtagging, i have jtagged ird's but dont knkow why you would need the tsops from a coolsat. you can get bothe b*v and d*sh on one coolsat at a time, its great they come with the disq4x1 switch so you can hook it up to both at once, but you do need 2 satellites i believe,
the difference between the 5000 and 6000 i believe is the price and the tv guide that comes on screen. i would say go with the 5000.
yes still working, use the nor123 program to get it going or if you have a local place to buy it, they can program it for you

the coolsat 5000 is easy to program, and theres no need to jtag it and save the image, if they system goes down......it may be because a new program is needed, and its just a matter of hooking it to your comport and installing the updated program. i have had mine go down a few times due to storms and such, and just returned to factory defaults, then changed things as needed, no biggie, no need to jtag, or do any fancy stuff
soo freakin easy

hey NP.....
once you have taken your coolsat out of the box and programmed it, hook it up to the tv, and set your chanels, all that is done with the remote, the factory defaults can be found through the remote control, and, if by chance your coolsat doesnt auto roll, you can set the keys directly on the tv using the remote, as i said, it is all very easy and straight forward, just be sure to read the directions :)

Hi all,
I my self have a DreamBox 7020S with a hard drive and a FC. and for now I have had fun with her. The only thing I don't like is the EPG.
The bad thing is she kind of pricy around USD600+. but hey you do need a hobby I gues.

would love to do the 102 route...have many cards..but sadly no unlocker :(
so for now its coolsat and avr-x
Matisse
07-01-2006, 02:36 AM
you really think its advisable to recommend avrx cards now??? dont care much about others' happiness do you?
i wouldnt even be advising anyone to buy fta right now....not unless they were going to motorize it and they had a peek at the lyngsat site to see what's available on sats other than dish/bev
102's are the only thing working now so why advise anyone to buy anything other than that?
nancy_the_great
07-01-2006, 02:42 AM
dont think i mentioned a single thing about recommending the avr-x card......was just stating that i had it and i have tv with it, if anyone asked i would say dont bother. as for the coolsat, well also have that and it is also working good for me, that i will not complain about, and have mentioned to others elsewhere...to wait and see what is happening with that as well.
lots of talk about different systems, such as the arm and 102, i could do the 102 if i could get the cards unlocked....seems that the people that have that ability charge a lot....ggrrr........

I have been testing since the atmega's first came out on B3V primarily. I used it till the magic card came out and quickly jumped ship to that one. Eventually i ended up going back to the atmega and a few months back i decided that i was going to try the FTA world out. I picked up a pansat3500... It was the easiest thing i have ever setup and i was up and running within about 20 minutes of pulling it outa the box.
The pansat was ok and the guide showed up extremely fast, however the content on the guide took forever to show up. Sometimes i would wait up to 5 minutes for the show lists to populate - a whole lotta "No Informations" were going on.
I packed it up the next day (after restoring it to factory defaults) and brought it back. I then got a Coolsat6000 and have not looked back since.
It is extremely easy to setup you just hook up the com port to your computer and drop a bin file on the receiver. Then you have to sort your channels and you are done.
There is a component video output, and optical out from the receiver to hook into your home theatre system. I currently have it running through a computer with a hauppage150 tv tuner in it for a pvr and it works great.
There is a working file called NORW 123_20060610 do a search for it and i am sure you will be able to come up with something. Right now there is no ppv or porn, but hey... free tv is free tv. Everything else still works fine.
Coolsat is a little slower to come out with the fixes but i find the quality of the machine is well worth the wait. The 6000 has 32 megs of sdram onboard as well which is the main difference between it and the 5000.
Now dont get me wrong - sometimes the "No Information" genie shows up again on the 6000, and you cant channel surf without actually changing channels (unless you are in the guide) but all in all i am very happy with my purchase.
Whatever you choose to pick up, you have to understand that the whole testing world can flip over night - things that work now, may go down 15 minutes from now, so have a backup plan what ever you do, and be willing to lose the money you put into it.
Just have fun!
