Pansat 2700 upgrade to PVR or DVR

I currently have a Pansat 2700a and working just fine. I want to be able to record shows and thinking of upgrading to another FTA box. A better EPG guide would be great too. Any suggestions?

Pansat 3500 has twice the memory and goes farther ahead in guide. Some new bins are in the works to get 8 hours ahead of if you turn off the pic in guide 8 to 40 hours ahead. Hopefully the work.
A buddy of mine has a tivo connected after his 2700 sounds like he has it workng. I use a stand alone dvd recorder on mine.
