My 510 player is giving me a nag to udate software. Expect more of this in the near future. I am not going to take it unless my tv goes black.
Mine is not asking yet. If it does I will take it. That way we can compare.

If your IRD's are RSA Moded, taking the update will cause you too have to re-mod the tsop. If the IRD is Moded No RSA, you can take the update with no ill effects. IRD's modded as No Rsa allows you to take future updates without re-moding using No RSA. Once you are forced updated, you will have to re-mod the IRD. So far, testing a 301.013, using P207 firmware, RSA moded, I have not been forced updated yet. Testing a 4900, No RSA Mod, I have took one firmware update with no ill effects.

i was using p207 about 2 weeks ago, and one nite last week i checked, and it was at p342. i never accepted any updates and i have it set to ask, and it still updated so i know i was forced.

It could be because you use plastic, I don't use plastic, I use emulation, so that could be the reason. The 301.013 has been at P207 sence N1 testing, I never updated it, just did the RSA mod. I'm not saying it will never get forced updated, it just has not as of today. However, it does desub sometimes but so does the 4900 with current firmware. Desub is easy to fix, just do a re-set only.

I took an update last week on my Ex-Sub pvr-510 to software P308 running Rom 102 with no problems. From what I've been reading, this latest update is supposed to address the Check Switch problem people have been experiencing.

I was having the check switch problem frequently for about 45 days using the RSA method with the 301.013. Everyone said it was firmware related but I'm not sure that was the case. I have not seen it reoccur in several weeks now. I have not changed anything with the firmware. I did change the tier structure so that it would be very close to a subbed IRD. Can't say for sure if that fixed the problem for me or it just went away on its own. In some cases, plastic works a great deal differently than emulation. Plastic gets updated, to update the bin using emulation, you have to allow it.

Was at 307 and was having some errors and having to do check switch alot to correct but the 308 seems to have solved that one.

Crazy, running 308 here on my 510 for a couple of weeks. The ONLY problem that I had was using the v27 blocker which spoofed to rev 107. I couldn't get a few channels in PPV and in the 300s-350s. My SW21 switch was buggy also. I changed it back to v22 and have had no issues.

Rule of thumb is never take an update unless something isn't working right any more. You can delay even a forced update by never turning your receiver off while it's plugged in to the power. Not much of a fix, but it will by a few days to make other arrangements if that's what's going on.
