Hi,

I just received my brand new 510 Ird (I hope it is not just refabed lol). I am planning to hand it to a technician to modify it to work with Dish since my soldering experience is way below zero lol. Is the noRSA is the latest receiver mod out there. And also, does it make sence to have a lock installed now? The technician told me that there is no need to but a lock now because the nagra 2 is quite new and they don't know what kind of ECM Dish would send. Does that make sense?

Also, if anybody in Toronto area is willing to take this project, they are more than welcome. I trust poeple from thsi website more and I don't mind paying one time reasonable fees for a hardware mod, since I am only software guy and the look of the green boards makes me dizzy :p . PM me if interested.

thanx

The technician said that he will take the 2 chips off the board and program them without doing a vidmod or Jtag head!!1 is that possible!! Any advice is appreciated.

well he wont take them off if he does he just doing more work than need be well and the lock you should get a pvr lock allows if youare recording and they hit your ird it will reboot just a feature that nice to have if you are looking into jst investing you money to have someone do it then i suggest you think wisely about who does it if he is taking off the chip then i advise you not to do that not necessay how much is he charging u then i will tell u if it is worth it

Yes it is very possible, but a LOT of un-nescessary work. The 510 is very easily modded, either traditional 4 wire 2 cut vid mod or the R44 removal method, both work.
Sound like your tech ain't much of a tech.....
