I'm sorry, but I believe you were taken for some serious $$$$$.
I'm not sure what exactly you want or need. Independent satellite radios (not satellite radio on DirecTv or Dish), require subscription.
Is your radio subscribed? Did this lowlife just give you a month or two subscription, then cancelled and pocketed the money? He is the one who knows. Do you know where he lives? Can you stop by for a visit?
This is why I urge everyone to do their homework!!!!!!! Ask questions before opening the wallet.

There is no reliable way yet to "hack" a satellite radio receiver.
What I was trying to get across is that the receiver was probably subscribed monthly by your guy, then cancelled.
You can get it to work by calling XM and re-subbing.
Sirius has a good deal though. $499.99 for a lifetime subscription. Nothing more to pay for the life of the receiver. That's what I have.
XM allows you to pay monthly, or buy in packages, 1 year, 2 year, 3 year etc. No lifetime subscription for the life of the receiver.
I hope this helps.

Onester, you are posting in the wrong area. Your in xm radio you need to post in the FTA section. Sounds like the guy was maybe waiting for the fix also, its out now and is posted here in the files area. Good Luck!

no problem onester,
we were all new at this game at one time. We are all still learning.
I believe your problem isn't satellite radio, it's Free To Air (FTA). You have a receiver that needs reprogramming.
There's a FTA thread here. Give it a shot. The members here are helpful.
I don't have FTA, I have dishnet.
Good luck.

No problem, here is the section you want to ask your question in http://www.dssftp.com/forum/f49-free-to-air-receiver-discussions.html if you need more help after you have done some reading in that section then you can private message me, and i'll try getting you going.
