420RE backup problem

I just finished modding my first 420re and making my own buffered jtag, using unwink's instructions and pcb. Everything went minty, the jtag was detected, I followed the instruction to the letter. When I try to back up the original flash, I get an error message and the process fails anywhere from 5-25%. I'm reluctant to attempt going any further until I'm sure I won't srcrew this thing up. Any ideas?

look closely over the board and make sure you didn't drop any globs of solder on there. if you did, remove it and attempt erasing again. also, you should remember resetting the IRD if you get an error. to reset, unplug the IRD for 3 seconds and plug back in and hit the OK button within 3 seconds of plugging it back in. hope this helps

Thanks for the idea, I ended up trying it on a different PC, a P3 running Windows XP Home rather than a P4 running Windows XP professional. Worked like a charm. PCR20 to the max!!
