Sorry if wrong forum/area. I bought and set up a new HDTV with built in HD tuner for free over the air Digital broadcasts. I have cable. What I want to know is if I put an antenna in the attic (the TV is in the basement and a set top antenna isn't working good) do I need to use a diplexer to combine the cable coax and the antenna coax into 1 cable that runs to the TV then use another diplxer to split the cable to digital box and another to the coax input on the TV for OTA HD? I use RCA jacks from the cable box to the TV video input for watching cable.
I know the diplexers are for satelite signals but what about cable??
Thanks

to be 100% honest i do not believe that will work the diplexers work on a pwr pass non pwr pass , sat cable ,the freq that sat runs at is way hihger than cable the diplexers are not designed to combine the two lower signals ikow for fact such feeds as internet and dig cable work on the non pwr pass side then sat on pwr pass so switching the dig to pwr side the antenna to non wil not work but i have not tried but the tech in me says no worst case try but i say NO your sol gotta run 2 cables or why not put a dish up there and get rid of your poopy ant you can run dig and sat also you have to be pretty close to transmit station to get HD feeds via ant

i also think that there are quite a few HD FTA feeds in the US look it up on lyngsat so you could use a fta unit with dish instead of antenna without the need to 'test or sub to sat provider
