Hi,

I am a complete newbie who just started in this hobby a month ago. I felt Romcode was the way to go using ex-sub units. I have ex-sub units that have not been used for MONTHS. I have managed to glitch the cards and they all read properly. They are all 301.013 receivers with rom 102 rev 103 cards. I thought cards were permanently married to the receiver on ex-sub units.

At any rate, will my units work with Romcode?? I am not the original owner and at the time I bought them, they had been turned off by the people who owned them. Some may have had outstanding balances. When I say Work, I mean without the J Tag Hassle

Thanks

have you got a PM to explain more about what to do?? I to am new to this and have the same suituation as you wrote about. I need to know if I need to add a stop or do anything like that. Will Roncode protect the cards and the files?? Not sure how to proceed so I am reading before I make a major mistake and loop a card or lock it. I have not even put the card into the nexus yet.
Please reply if you can be of assitance.
Thanks,

Nobody answered my question in this group and somebody ( with over 3,000 posts) gave me the wrong answer at " satjunction. " Thankfully Studmonkey had done his own ex-sub and posted the correct info at the other group.

I had one 301.013 ex-sub unit that had sat in a closet for at least six months. I programmed it with Romcode. I then ran a switch test. Click menu 6-1-1. Go into switch test and click on test from your remote. Cancel out of that when it finishes the switch test and it will ask you if you want it to download the latest updates. Click on yes. Ten minutes later, you are good to go.

I am testing two other 301.013 ex-subs using the Penga Blocker. I used the same switch test method and was good to go in ten minutes. NO J tagging was necessary in any case. You have to vid mod the 301.013 to J Tag and that is a hassle.

If you have an ex-sub unit, Romcode is as easy as pie.

Romcode will NOT protect you from looping a card. If you are not sure how to glitch a card, I can PM you somebody I used when I almost ruined a Rom 102 rev 107 card. He fixed an unknown provider error. Once you loop a card, you are SOL!! If you are a newbie, I would not try glitching a card beyond rev 105. I use Nagramaster loader for glitching. Nagramaster won't glitch anything beyond rev 105. The other programs are not for newbies IMHO.

For information on glitching cards Mili has a great URL here.

On a ex-sub unit make sure you make a copy of the virgin image of that card and burn it to a CD. Go here for easy instructions on that.

Make sure you buy an ISO programmer even if you get somebody else to glitch your cards. You will need one to use Romcode.

Romcode is an easy " all in one " program . You simply put your card in your ISO programmer. Click live update to make sure you have the latest version of Romcode. Simply register you card. Click Manage cams and cut and paste your cam signature. Click clean card. Click tier editor to create your channels. Click program card. That's it. The program is intuitive, so you are very unlikely to need much help with that. Romcode has it's own instructions you can print out. I just gave you the consise version.

Romcode writes its own private blocker to your card to protect it from ECM's

Romcode does NOT work on cardless receivers, like the 311 or 811.

I hope this helps

Glad my info helped someone....Romcode rocks....to me its the easiest thing for newbies to use, especially if you only have one ird and one card to mess with...but its also less fun to use romcode...but if u want an all and one, romcode is the way to go

Why not?? I can't find an e-mail link or I'd ask them directly, but I see no reason why it would not work with a cardless receiver.

Still don't explain why not...the chip in these is a 102, my opinion is that it should work fine.
But I don't know that.

Skinerd. You are correct that it should, but they are warning people not to use is. Aparently it will lock you out of the card inside and you will have to reglitch it to get back in. They said it was something to do with the way the blocker is designed. That is all I know about it. Look at satjunction dot com if you want to ask more about it. That is where the coders hang out.
