My laptop has the s-Video output which I hooked it to my TV's s-video input and on the tv screen everything that is shows on my laptop is displayed on the tv screen. I went to put in a dvd movie and was using Power DVD program to view the movie. Everything would show and play on the laptop but it only showed a blank screen on my tv. what am I missing?? Any help would be most appreciated. thanks in advance

You need to unlock the DVD drive on your laptop. Ie remove the RPC2 macrovision crap. Do a search on this in google you will find a site where you can get unlocked firmware and software to make your DVD drive region free.
Also you might want to do into settings display and witch to multi-display. also on the laptop there is a key where you hold the function key and depress the display key and you should be able to toggle between the TV monitor and your laptop and both.
The reason why it did ot work for you is that they try to make sure you can not copy a DVD from the TV ie copyright crap.
Oh one more thing microsoft messenger and netmeetings interfere with the DVD on some computers so you want to turn these off before inserting the disk.

Thanks for the info and help(thats why I love this forum and support it,vip member) You was right it was the function key, number 4 on my laptop. My wife had gone to a presentation and they had a laptop and showed the entire presentation using the s-video output of the laptop into the input of the big screen tv. so her question to me was can my laptop do what theirs had done. The only function key I ever used was number 2 for the wireless connection to get on line. Got it to work and was able to watch SuperMan Returns He He!! on the big screen. You guys are great. Hey SmilingJack thank you as well . Have a Great Day!!
