Just received my unit today also. But I did open it up and found the ISO card not attached to the IRD header. I have been trying to get a response from someone in the forum to tell me which way to plug up the ISO assembly to the header on the PCB.
I think you can open the box and the IRD cover without harming anything. If you do please post how your ISO header is connected. If it isnt you might want to read my post started today.

Please tell me if the red wire of the multicolored ribbon cable is connected to the header pin nearest the front of the receiver or connected to the header pin nearest the rear of the receiver. TIA :o

Have you looked at the "how to" here?

http://www.bellexpress.vu/311.html

There are pretty pictures that may help?
You may find some helpful info on rom10x also.

That thread does not show how to hardwire a Passive interface card onto an 811 mother board! How is it done!? I haven't seen any instructions any where! Does Milli's 811s come with the P.I. card already installed on the motherboard?

Rom10x has a How to for the 811 PIC. Its not an easy install for a novice.

If you buy an 811 from Mili it has the PIC installed.

overhere, I'm in MD but I removed the internal cam and soldered it onto an avr board and it was a piece of cake. I tried the PIC on a 311 and it was a PITA and was not receiving ATR. Decided to remove it also and works great on avr board. Just remove the onboard cam and solder; much easier (IMO).
