I just did a no zkt mod on my RCA 403 7-15-96. I soldered in a new socket and plug in a chip that I bought preprogramed with a file I choose, which was test303m from the zenontech.com site. When I hooked this unit up it now gets a signal on only the even transponders, and nothing on the odds. It does get the guide, but on any channel it says searching for sat signal. My question is , is this most likely a firmware problem? Should I spend money on another chip or shop for a 430, 440 and jtag it?

it can be both. if it was working before the mod its definately firmware. i like how 430's look on my TV...looks great and easy to mod. i would reflash and see if it does the same thing. also remember to send FP to ground.

Sounds like A bad Programed chip.
