This just kills me hearing all you talk about doing this vid mod with ease and sucess? I have been working on this thing now for weeks with two differant IRD's both 301.013's that do need the mod. I have tried ever concivable way of doing this mod with no availe what so ever. I never get the whole tsop to erase and I can never get more than 12% of the tsop to program it alwasy every single time stops in the same spot no matter what mod I do or what I try it is the same response ever single time? I have tried 2 differant jtags one bufferd and one not? the only other thing I have not tried is using a differnat computer? I just wish I know what that one thing is that is worng?

going dame crazy from this!! :mad2:

Update to my delma! it was the computer. I have been using my old HP with a celeron 500 in it to do all my dish tsop work. had never filed me till now. must be a comport issue and not enough speed or something. tried my HP laptop with AMD 1600 in it and vola! first time and done!

I am one happy camper to have that problem solved!!!
thanks for eveyone hanging in there with me. I know I must have seemed like a real simp! :)

I actually use the method suggested by HOD on every 301-013 I've done. I have never suggested it though because I have two pieces of equipment most in the hobby don't. An AC isolation transformer and a isolated DC power supply.

If you are going to use this method use the battery it's the least likely to fry your IRD.

The IRD is isolated from AC ground through the power supply in the IRD. Using a el cheapo power supply for the 12 VDC for the VID 12VDC is risky at best.

Those inexpensive supplies purchased from WalMart or Rat Shack may or may not be isolated from the AC ground. Some are just a bridge recitifer circuit with a IC regulator and a few filtering components with no isolation from AC ground.

Hook one of those up to the receiver and you'll
toast it real fast.

Header pin fan myself. I use them for everything. I rob them from old comp boards that are worthless for anything else. Then I can use standard floppy and harddrive cables to hook em up.

Makes testing a breeze.

Hello?!?!? McFly?!?!?!

Try an older card first, see if it works. If it says "Incompatible version of access card", then you need the vid mod. To test in jkeys, read address x7FFFFFAC. If it says "0000", then you don't need the vid mod. If it says "00D5", then you need to do the vid mod.

On a 310-013...........
The vid mod is nescessary to be able to write to the tsop, after it gets ECM"ed. It is not required if 7FFFFFAC is 0000 in order to use a blue card or MC, but it will be needed to write to the tsop in the future......all the vid mod does is enable writing to the tsop via jtag.
