Yes, I am using an ADS Instant DVD gadget to capture MPG2 video direct frotm the receiver to my PC.

a directivo is what you want as it stores on the hard drive in mpeg. there is alot to read on that subject. i know a 1st gen. directivo can do this i do not know if the 2nd gen. models can be modded for this. it is http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/ you can read about it here.

Yes indeed. Although it is an analog capture device it kicks ass and has a hardware encoder in it.
