hi, i'm new to this site, and am about to jump into modding my 311 receiver. Are there soldering instructions posted in these forums to connect the passive interface card (which i want to buy) to the 311? after that, the how-to programming link on the main website seems pretty straightforward.

thanks for any help out there!

This is the how you hook up with millis passive interface cards to 311.

It's the same, but it's not installed on the ird board and you will need to unlock the cam before being able to read and write to it. To do it the way I do it, you need to cut one trace and move three little resistors out of the way to glitch and unlock the card with your modded unlooper, then you have to repair the cut trace with a jumper wire and solder the three resistors back in. Here is the pic of how I do it.

The interface card that milli sells header connections at the end of the ribbon cable are when you are holding it in front of you are left to right Ground, I/0 or data, VCC, Clock, Reset. Now the ribbon cable is to long to let you glitch so best to hook real short wires right to your unlocker and then after it's unlocked then put in the header or you can put another female header thing on the ribbon cable but real close to the interface card and use it for unlocking and reading and writing also.

I had to remove three little resistors. I was able to heat them up and push one side away from it's solder pad so it wasn't making contact. After I unlocked the card and programmed it I put the resistors back and I then used a little piece of wire to jumper from where I had soldered the vcc line to the resistor right below where I made my only cut. That basically repaired the cut.

IMHO, cutting and repairing,(jumpering), cut traces is a lot easier than reinstalling those itty bitty resistors. And I am very good at soldering. Can't see worth a shit tho....

Yeah, it ain't a walk in the park, but I use a little tiny flathead screwdriver and put it on the side of the resistor and then heat up one pad of the resistor solder joint and once it's heated up I push the resistor away from one pad leaving it hooked to the other, but not connecting on one side. You can leave the resistor flat on the board and just heat it and twist it with the little screwdriver, or you can twist and pick up on one end that way also. The key is to get it hot enough on both sides by just heating one side of the resistor, so you have to leave the iron on there till it is hot enough. I use a Weller WTCPT with TC 201T iron and it's a real hot one so it only takes me about 3 seconds to heat it up and move it out of the way. For some reason it's easier for me this way then having to cut the traces and then scrape the traces and solder little tiny wires to fix the the traces after unlocking. But also I like to fix cut traces by soldering from solder pad to solder pad, that's easier. With the 311's if you cut the vcc line to isolate it, you then have to solder to the trace and I don't like doing that.

Hello. How's about the installation and soldering of Milli's passive interface card for cardless reciever like the Dish 811 ? Is it the same like Dish 311? If I buy the interface card from Milli, will he included a HOW TO install the interface to Dish 811?

One more question: I have an ex-sub dish 811 with saying DNASP 02 Rev 287, S00-7035-0101-01. Can anyone tell me what type of rom I have? will it work with the interface card.
Thanks and waiting for your help

No way to unlock rev287 at this time so you won't be able to unlock your 811 if it is at rev287. I've posted a bunch how to hook up to the 811.
