I got the 26 volts from the ground to the c44, but when I put the 220ohm resistor on the jumper wire from the c44 I still get 26 volts instead of the 12 volts that it is suppose to get, is their something I missing?

Sounds like you forgot the diode.....

I hate that method, the 7812 regulator or just a 9v battery is a lot safer.

No I did that right after I drilled the hole in the back of the reciever. From the diode to c44 was 26 volts, then when I ran the jumper with the 220 resistor it was still 26. On the second one I did I have almost 14 volts from the diode to the c44

You run the wire from c44 leg then you put the 200 ohm on the end of that wire. But Firts conect the diode, I have it to that black screw then you solder the diode banded side to toggle. Then you solder the c44 wire with ohm on it to the same side of toggle were diode is at.
Hope that helps... r290 sometimes dont get good ground well for me that is.
