2700 and 102 card

I'm an atmega man ,but see lots of talk on 102 cards working ,and the way to go . Do these cards work on 2700 IRD's ?
Ive been told that if I was to buy a 102 card it could be usless as 1 in 4 are no good ,locked or something ,or maybe they meant I would lock 1 in 4 trying to program them ..Can someone give me a little advise here please?

Here is some advise.. read read read.. start with the how to's mili put togethor, then come back somewhat educated and ask some speific questions. If you want to watch tv you'll need a rom 102 as there is no other way, and probably never will be again.
