I believe it's only good for dual tuner IRD's

you could find a used exsub322 and do a mod on it. you will have dual tuner 322 with programming.
i have a nice mod(wire and soldering) for the 322 using milli's(311) interface card.
i use a header for the interface wired to a dipswitch.
the dipswitch is for future access to the embedded 103 chip.
i had to use mr. tierworks to create my tiers with the latest 103 blocker.
not that hard to do once you get onto how tierworks works.
hope this helps a little to get you started with 103

I have read elsewhere that the 103 are only usable in dual tuner models to but have not personally tried and was wondering if ne1 had tried themselves.

yeah i believe that the rom103 is only for dual tuner models.
there is a mod on the 322 to enable the card slot but you can also do a mod to enable the internal chip.
