Does anyone know of an offshore email service that you can send/receive email from without U.S. Gov. getting info?

Try hushmail dot com. They don't keep records and they encrypt the mail.

the best way is to open a yahoo or gmail account and not use your real info during registration and in the email activity. that way you check it from any web browser and you should be fine. Hushmail is ok but if you do not use them for a period of time the email address expires. also the email is encrypted only between hushmail users not other parties. Also the government can decrypt this email if it needs to you you have no protection in that respect. It may be costly and time consuming but it is possible and whether or not they will do it depends if they really suspect something important in it. More than likely they will monitor activity first. another option which you might consider is sending encrypted documents via email as attachments encrypted with PGP this is very secure even from the government. If you really wanted to make it secure transfer the document to jpg images and then encrypt them with pgp. PGP requires each end to have a public key and private key to encrypt decrypt information.
