Is there a how to for IntegratorX1 Cards (http://dssftp.com/xcart/product.php?productid=76)...how can i locate that chip on DP 311. Can someone point me....I have two 311 sitting with no use and i like to play around. Milli please point me to right direction...So this card works like regular 102 card than how could i program it when key changes can I take it out every time?
You heat the chips with a heat gun from BELOW the board then lift them (not with your fingers). You then insert onto the Integrator and heat the pins from the other side with a solder iron. I will do a how to shortly (where is my fucking heat gun???)
Anyway the boards are NICE quality, it is not your average garage handjob.

I can attest that there is absolutely no training or instruction in the art of soldering given in any electrical engineering curriculum.
If fact, many technicians do not know how to unsolder a surface mounted chip. It is usually the women on the assembly line who know how to do it.

heat it with at heat gun, lift in out with a tweezers. put in in the socket (it only goes on way) and solder it form the bottom with a soldering gun.

You get the card
You have to get the chip yourselves
If it installed it acts a a 102 card
It has to UN-Locked like a 102 card (with white nexes)
you program it with a (ISO) programmer like a 102 card

Mili's web site says...
"IntegratorX1 card to embed your ROM102 chips that you removed from DP311 or DP811 recievers. Once you insert the chips into this interface card it will turn it into a ROM102 card for all intents and purposes. You insert the chip into the holder, heat the solder points from the other side and you got yourself a ROM102 card."
Seems to me this procedure may void the warranty on your DP311... and DESTROY it!
Why would you destroy a DP311 just to get a Rom 102?

People who have virgin 311's can't do anything with them, unless they want to sub. So yank out the 102 chip.

For the 311's or 811's or 322's or 522's or 625's you take out the chip, mount it on the board, unlock it and then wire up the cardslot in it's receiver you took it out of to use if you want. I use a little butane torch and heat the chip from the top and it pops off without hurting or melting anything else. A neat trick is to take a thin wire (30 guage) and wrap it around the cam chip and then heat up the chip (it just takes about 4 seconds) till it comes loose and pull it away with the wire. You can get the butane torches at Rat shack for $20.

:) One thing I would like to mention is "Make sure you kno what Rev it is before you do this. " Go into set-up and go to INfo screen to find out. I have a Rom 102 Rev 287 and it can not be unlocked yet. No need to destroy the box if it can't be unlocked.

What is the lowest REV # for the 311 that can be glitched? Is it REV 108 or lower like the Rom 102 plastic?

All i know is bell not so much dish but i have 4100's and they can be unlocked all the way up 2 rev 2c4 which is the equivenlent for rev 244 jus like regular 102's so id imagine that dish would be what ever the equivelent of rev 108 is

Do you actually heat the chip from the top?? Seems that the heat would destroy the chip.

out come the 500 W Weller.
The chips are very sensitive to heat and can be destroyed be heat.

It is suppose to be no higher than rev286 that can be unlocked for the 311's. I was able to unlock a rev285, but it took me a while.

Yes I heat the chip from the top. I have done a bunch this way and it hasn't hurt any of them. You can do it by heating up the bottom of the motherboard also, but you really then have to get the whole board real hot and you are more likely to destroy the receiver and if you want to use the receiver? The key is to only heat it up enough to get the chip off. While heating it up from ontop of the chip with the little butane torch you move the torch in a circular motion around the top of the chip for about 4 seconds and the chip will pop up a little when it comes loose. I am not saying this is the only way to do it. I am not saying it's the best way. I am saying it's the way I do it. I usually turn the butane torch down to as low as it will go also.
You can also have someone hold the motherboard upside down and heat the chip on the topside with a lighter till it falls off.
Also the butane torch works good for heating the motherboard up on the bottom side to get the chip off from the top. Probably more precise control for the heat than a big old heat gun. Last time I bought a cheapo heat gun it was $20 at Harbor Freight, same as a butane torch at Rat Shack.
I've also just cut the chip out of the receiver, leaving it on the motherboard, with tin snips and wired it up to a bootloader that way, and that's pretty easy also.

I have re-moved several chips from a 311 board, using nothing more than my kitchen stove. It is not the heat gun or butane soldering iron that loosens the chips ...it is HEAT that does the job, reguardless where the heat comes from..use your imagination.

I can't believe that so many neophytes are risking their IRDs by attempting to learn how to solder on them (I purchased my first Weller temperature controlled soldering station in '82, damn thing paid for University.....was putting together Apple ][ clones back then)!
Guys, check out the yellow pages...look for computer repair/monitor repair/tv repair shops. Call and ask do you do component level repairs? If yes, then ask 'surface mount?' and if it's a YES........take your IRD there and perhaps for $25 it will be done.
Even if they charge $45, what's your DEAD IRD worth now??? As the old saying goes 'pennywise and pound foolish'! :-(

Not trying to run your site, but wouldnt it be a good idea to add a note below the IntergratorX1 in the store saying that it will not ship until the 22nd. The way it reads is 924 available and I assumed they were ready to ship.....just my opinion. I can wait another week thats not a problem.

They have one chip in the it's a rom 103 BGA rather than a rom 102. Looks like you have some reading to catch up on.
Good news, the guy says they are ready and the only thing is they won't have that retaining clip on them. I find that an actual improvement as that clip prevented me from applying equal pressure on the chip and feeling how hot it got while soldering. It also had no strenght so I think having it was a bad idea in the first place.
