View Full Version : RM80 timing
I have a 1986 rm80 and when I bought it the magneto was in a box of parts I got. I put the magneto back on and theres a plate around the magneto that was loose. I'm assuming but could be wrong that, that is for timing. theres 2 screw that hold this plate on that you can adjust. I set it right in the center of the adjustments and it runs pretty good but kinda doggy on the buttom end. Does anybody know how to set this or is there another problem?

If it was that far out of timing you would get much back-firing and it would not stay running at idle. i would check air-fuel mixture on the carb.
I kinda wondered that myself. Thak you for replying, I'll check it out. Do you know of any online manual for this. I putting this thing back together to resell and I don't wanna spend $25.00 for a service manual.

matters what brand oil, but most run 40:1
do a couple of plug readings a low rpm & high rpm, should be chocolate, also
to lean out on bottom end (if needed) unscrew the top of the carb, raise the
clip a notch
