What did letter say. Like DTV it is probably a fishing expidition wanting you to admit to wrong doing and pay. Unless you are into providing for others they have to PROVE you stole signal, VERY HARD TO DO unless you are ratted out by others or yourself.

First off let me say SORRY to hear you or anyone is getting those letters. No point in telling you what you should have done ... that is pretty much something in hindsight you can figure out for yourself.
I would be interested however if you could share the contents of the letter in its original state for reference purposes for other members.
Good luck and look for support from others here and about the internet who have been down this road with Dave.

Thats something new I would never call that Number thats how they get you. Fu*ck them dont do anything did fedex ask you for ID never signed that shit... Take it how you want it but my brother in law got a DTV letter a long time ago he never called or anything they didnt come after him I belive alot ppl who called that number are the ones who got into trouble.. ..

Yes, we need to know who the vendor was who gave up his info, and a scan of the document would be most appreciated as well. Don't forget to black out any personal information. Until we have this, it's still not confirmed that Charlie has adopted Dave's strategy of extortion letters. I havn't seen any other reports of this kind of thing. So for now, let's not panic.

i got a letter from dtv about 2 to 3 years ago i did what everyone said and ignored it and threw it in the garbage, done same with the second letter. threating to take me to court, again threw it away , couple of months later got judgement papers from court for 1.2 million because i bought over 400 bootloaders. they claimed thats how much i stole from them. i think i still hav the paper fom them but they cant collect cause everything is in wifes name, it isnt on my credit report though. just never adnit anything.

I dont understand if there shaking him down for buying the unlocker because the unlocker is not a programmer or am i wrong , now buying from a site that sells hacking hardware in the US could be the reason. but will that hold up in court i mean why cant u unlock a card to a virgin state? now thats just me running my mouth i really dont Know thanx Sanman
Until there are more reports of this and we know who the vendor he purchased from, this is just rumor. I'm not going to move the thread just yet, but without a corroborating report with pertinant info and hopefully a scan of the document lets consider this rumor....at least for now.
I would not be surprised.

Ok, so there were a few busts a cople months back. They were all Eastern Canadian dealers. I forgot the exact list. We now have reports that people who have purchased from at least onr of those vendors, dsstoybox, are receiving extortion letters from Charlie. Who else got shut down a couple months ago? If they're on the list and you purchased from them you may want to be prepared for an unwanted package via FedEx or certified mail. I have yet to witness a scan of the document, but it's on it's way hopefully. How many letters will be sent and to whome time will tell.
If anyone else gets one of these please be sure to let us know the vendor.
Can't blame the guy for being a little gun shy right now.

Ok mili, i did what you suggested and called echostar to inquire about the letter. The only reason I did not fear calling was because I have never bought anything from any dealer. I always got hand me downs from friends of mine. I was given the brush off because of the information they wanted from me that I did not want to give them.
So they did not just dismiss it saying they don;t know what you are talking about?

Frankly, you just re-ignited a <T>hread that's a year & a half old, not a clever thing to do. The Statute of Limitation........depending on the offense can be anywhere from 5 to 7 years to allow litigation.
You probably were 'written off as not worth it or fell between the cracks', Mili allows non-members to Read the forums....and who the phuck knows just who these 'guests' are?

I think there fishing also there is another use for a programmer it can be set up for access control. If it ever came down get the other necessary parts. then you can say stick cause look here is what I use it for
