i have a 501 that i attempted to remarry a new hard drive to. after jtagging and saving flashes, writing a virgin flash and eprom to marry the drive, then booting back up i run into a problem. now when i plug the receiver up, the red recording light comes on with the power light and they don't go off. what have i done and how can i fix it. any remedy of this issue would be appreciated.

That normally means that you have either left your vid mod connected and your receiver is in boot mode or that the write of your TSOP was bad.
Check you connections and re-write your TSOP

A vidmod is not needed on a 501. You just simply tag it you will need to ground pad one out to get into flash programming but that is it.
I would say you have a corrupt tsop.
also just to go over the steps again.
you erase both tsops then you write a virgin back to flash 2 then a virgin eeprom then restream and let flash one update on its own. also make sure your build is correct, just the first 2 letters have to match then you can change the last 2 and it will be fine.
try another virgin flash and go again I always use a virgin p075 when I remarry.
