View Full Version : Broken JTAG or Broken User?

Okay, so I bought this JTAG back in the beginning of my Charlie days (daze).
It's a quad buffered JTAG called the "jInterface" and is a hands free deal with magnets. Sounds pretty sweet, right? Well, I ended up not having to use it. I also was never able to get it to work.

But, I don't know if it's because one of the pogo pins springs is broken or because I'm not doing something right when it comes to using it with JKeys 2.9.11. I attach JTAG, start JKeys, plug in IRD power, and hit Detect quick.

The broken pogo pin is in the top row, which I think makes it a ground pin. Would the fact that it doesn't have the spring pressure behind it when it touches the pads on the board make it not work? There are two other ground pins in the top row, right? Haven't been able to get this damn thing to work with any receiver! JKeys is set to use "jInterface on COM1" and I know the port is ok cuz it works with unlocker and iso. I'm using a PS/2 powered serial cable which is inline with the keyboard (does it have to be inline with mouse?). I tried just putting it on the JTAG hole with the magnets holding it in place, as well as with no magnets just holding it there putting more pressure on it myself, and still nothing...All I get is "Error no response from jInterface on Com1" and errors when trying to upgrade firmware.

When you turn it over the pogo pin drops out to be the same length as the rest of the pins so I'm pretty sure it's touching the pad, but no pressure behind it. Any ideas??? Junk it or buy one (don't really want to wait 10 days for it to get here) or make one from scratch (even more sketchy)?
