Sounds like an avr card I don't think winvu will run on xp don't no for sure I have always used it on windows 98 and have had no problems

open winvu folder,open config file,enter ird#in hex,enter boxkey,select com port , baud 115200,scard in hex,time zone etc.etc.etc
unplug ird
double click winvu icon
you may have to manually enter key#s
time zone/zip is 0901
check mark autoroll,autostart,ird2pc
uncheck display
apply
close
put card in ird plug in start winvu
