When and why do you do a vid mod?

When, Usually right after dinner......

Why?? Cause you can't write to a locked sector unless you do......Some PVRs, like some 501/508/510s have a locked sector, all 301-013s do....

And how would you know if the sector is locked?

If it's a 301-013, or a 501/508/510 with 320DT or 323GT chips, the last sector is locked. If you can't erase it, it's locked.
