I was just wondering what the preferred vidmod method was... the 3-wire 2-cut, or the 4-wire 2-cut? Also, I've found the 4-wire 2-cut method posted, but can't seem to find the 3-wire 2-cut method. Anyone point me in the right direction?

It all depends on the chips you have. There is also the r44 9v mod. As far as ease of implimentation the r 44 mod is the easiest, but again, it depends on your chipset.

How do I determine the chipset? Thanks again.

read the numbers on top of the tsop chips. They should have an ending something like 320GT. That should get you started as to what type of vid mod (if any) is required. Make sure you read, then read again, and when you think you have read enough read it again.
There are different chipsets in these receivers and finding out what vid mod is the best takes some reading.
Do as smithers has said and post the chipset that is in your IRD.
Note..... you will have 2 chips to look at U6 and U7.
Let us know what chips you have and then we can point you in the direction of the best vidmod to use.

3wire 2 cut with jumper method should be what you need to get this going.
Check the build config sticker on top of the board, is it something like DFXX?
hope this helps

Yup, it's DFHD. Next project is getting the hard drive to work with it, but I'll worry about that later. First things first. Thanks for the help.
