Hi there. I have a buffered jtag. I was trying to flash my 301.010 recieve last night and it gave the error message, "Unknown Device". The last time I used the jtag was when Atmegaman had his TSOP flashes. Everything worked great then. Now when I go to jtag my 301, I keep getting this message. I also tried to remove the jtag and then connect it again and same error. I thought maybe the batteries may be bad so I also tried it with new batteries. Since it didn't work with one reciever, I thought I would give my other 301 a try and I still got the same error. I wonder what I could be doing wrong. I used the same jtag last time to flash to Atmegaman's flashes and there was no problem then and since then I have not even touched my jtag.

Any Suggestions? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

that error means it is not communicating. If you unplugged the jtag and had no connection at all thats what it would say.

your com port is cut off, or you have it wired up wrong, and as you said it could be the battery.

Might be a broke wire...check com port in system properties<device manager> and also check the bios,(at PC bootup). You might have to look up how to enter the bios of your pc mine is press f1 during start up before the XP logo.
look at wirring first. then look at the device manger make sure it says enabled on your com port

I know it can't be the parallel port because i checked it in device manager and it shows enabled. Also, I was able to program my atmega though that port also and it worked fine. I also changed the batteries and even then I still get the error message. So i guess it must be the wiring. But its kind of strange, I never even touched it for almost 3 months now and it all of a sudden doesn't work. Is there any other things I could try?

I called it a com port but yes your right on checking the LPT port.
You know it works so it must be connections.
Make double sure you got the ird turned the right way and do not have it backwards.
If you got a multitester check all the pin/wires make sure they all got thru the db25 connector.
Other than that I can't think of anything else.

Wait....ird is pluged in the wall when you try it right?
