has anyone tried loading their bins to their fta with a usb-to-serial cable using their laptop. It is kinda troublesome for me to have to disconnect my receiver and then bring all the way over to my desktop.
I have dell inspiron 9300, but i have no luck detecting my com port using the usb to serial cable and the loader.exe
If anyone has any suggestions for me using my laptop instead of my desktop, it would much appreciated.
thanks

yes, i use one. the only thing different is when i plug into my coolsat, i always do an auto detect first (cs pro loader 2.4). i use my laptop and the com port chnges depending on what i am hooked up to.
i bought my adapter on tiger direct and it came with a driver on a mini CD. I connect it to the end of the coolsat cable.
works great for me.

I have an AirLink 101 USB to Ethernet Adapter that I use on a DBx. Got it for about 12 bucks at Fry's electronics. WORKS! Cheaper than a router. You just need to retrieve the ip addr. for the Usb port you are using and the ip for your Box! Highly recommended! Oh - you need to have a short male x male ethernet cable too.

i downloaded and installed a random rs232 to usb driver after googling it. I have done this before and it never worked. Today it did work. I am not going to touch if it is working now :)
Thanks for your inputs !!!!!!!!!!

Glad ya got it working.
Save that driver. I had to reinstall it to mine a couple of times. But have not had to do it for about six months now. I have no idea why the driver did not save in the registry the first time.
