Have you tried eBay? There are plenty of compatible 40/80/120 gig drives for the 501/508/510 Receivers.

its been working great single last year,
you will have to remarry the drive to the unit remember

From last year CP
here is how I did it with the same drive with a 501 co nverted to 508, so it should be the same.
Some peoople say flashing without the drive to 063 is not needed but with drive attached it did not for me.
after many night a trying and thanks to many member ( there are many so if I forget you sorry ) like Skinard, Grandpa, etc I finally got my 501 to accept and marry a new drive 80 gb and become a 508
man is the new drive quiet. going to try another one soon.
Thanks Grandpa for all the help,
I finally got my 501 now 508 working.
I used a MAxtor 80 Gig 7200 rpm, liquid bearing drive model 6L080L0
brand new made in Dec 2005,
Used 063 with the rom 102 number for the reciever ( bk and ird # ) and an atmega with and old rom 3 number. with the same ird and bk for 102.
plugged in drive after flash
then let it stream to 304 with the atmega.
then inserted rom 102 and tv with 508 dvr funtions, timers work , pause etc just like my subbed bell dual input.

Hi, I think the 508 should work with a 100 gig. I put a 100 gig in my 501 and got it to work! All i had to do was write a p079 510 tsop to the receiver.
