View Full Version : How To Update Keys In Romcode

Ok guys, seems we have some new stuff in the stream. Romcode has not updated yet so do this, get DT tierworks 26.7 or highter, open up your romcode program and clean your romcode card, when this is done it should be open and at rev 103. then open up N2edit and read the card and save the image, name it whatever you want. I usually use todays date. next open up DT tierworks and click on the big key right above where it says zip code. Next click the get key button, it will say keys retrieved, next click the save and write keys button, next click the organize and wipe tiers button. it will says tiers have been wiped. Then select the modify bin file button and save over the image you just read and saved in N2edit. Now in N2edit write that image you just patched in dt tierworks to your card, it should still be rev 103 after this. Now open up romcode and program as normal. Watch tv.

so this is a way to fix the problem before the update comes out, or there is no update because it is not needed and you HAVE to do it this way???
I am going to wait if can. Dont want to try anything new unless the wait is days

This is a quick fix until a update is released keef. sorry I should of said that. I'm sure it will be released soon

no prob. I heard it was real fast last time. Good to know there is a backup method, but not worth it for me cause I have to drive to use a PC.

when i try to get keys it always gives me runtime error and dornt retrive them if someone posts them then can i just paste them in and go from there hint hint

Thank you Crazy_79, you are the man! I hate pressing buttons w/o knowing what they do, but in this case I relied on your knowldge and am back.

yes you can manually update them with some programs, if you paste them into dttierworks in that key section and then save and write them to bin it will work. goto

I tried with just the update using Romcode 4.1h and it does not work. Crazy1_79 workaround works great.

I got mine to play but I can't change channels?? The only button that works is the channel up and down but they just go to the dianostic screen - WEIRD! i hope I did'nt screw up too bad!! Gonna try again

Wow I only posted that once!! My romcode is at 4.06f and still says no update available. Where did you get 4.1h?

Romecode.com will have the latest software, but you will still need Crazy_79's fix!

Ok damnest thing I've seen in a while!! The tiers worked. but the IRD is crazy. When I use the remote to go up(or down) with the channel - instead of the next channel I get the dianostic page - channel up one more time and I go to the 2nd channel up-(242-244 ect.) I was gonna run a check switch but I have to hit the up button twice and that skips the test button. I did a hard reboot but its the same. Anyone heard of this before.
A simpler approach is:
Clean Card in ROMCODE
Open Nagramaster and read card. (the NM Loader version will work with an unlocker, the normal version with an ISO)
Once you read the card you can double click IDEA Key0 on the bottom and edit the byte at AD04 from 3D to 11
Click Key 1 on below that and edit it to show 66B9F65370ED2A5B31D559D29F1C5263
Write this BIN to the card
Apply ROMCODE again but DO NOT click the "Use Private BIN" in settings.

If this is a NEW ROMCODE install and you want to use their private BIN then:
Program with ROMCODE and Select "Use Private BIN in case you don't have a married card/receiver pair
Clean card in ROMCODE (yes as soon as you programmed it clean it off)

i followed your directions
after the read the card with nagra master.. the bottom idea key0 btye is not AD04 but rather, AC96..
so, what should i do ?

easiest way to update keys with bin file is to download dt key grabber,click get keys,click patch bin,bev or charlie then click patch.it will patch the bin for you,write to card,watch tv,simple

im trying to find out, if i change 11 to 3d on the byte.. and then reCOMCODE apply it, doesn't it have only rem102 rev103 on it ?
I thouhgt 110 was the requirement ?

BTW, If tierworks shotdown when trying to update keys, then you have to turn off your firewall.

1. unlock card using romcode
2.use nagramaster and read eeprom to find out where to change the key
3. change key1..it seems that's the one that didn't roll(make sure to double click the line to change any info.
4. write image to card
5. re program with romcode
6. watch tv

None of this has worked for me. I get ABOF on idea key 0 on Nagra and no key found on iDea key 1. Iused Mili's instuctions. Any Help.....Thanks

This is the easiest I found. Get Nagramaster 3.8.1 from here:

Clean Card in ROMCODE
Open Nagramaster 3.8.1 (you will need an ISO) and read card.
Once you read the card click DishKeys on the top
Write this BIN to the card
Apply ROMCODE again but DO NOT click the "Use Private BIN" in settings.

I believe it is because it is only updating key 86.

When I look at AD04 mili says it should say 3D and change it to 11..Mine is saying its 07 do I change this or maybe I might be at the wrong location... ????? Any help on where to find AD04 would be of great help...

OOps let me say that when I try this fix I get the info on the screen and then black everything working expect a picture...
ROMCODE 4.1.H got Live Update going. I repeat 4.1.H
Please try it and report back.

when i use romcode 4.06.. i can read, reset, and program the card
when i use romcode 4.11... it always tells me that my card "is dealer or stream locked" whenever I want to clean OR program card.
what is going on ????

Clean your card with 4.06 and then use new Romcode. Make sure they are in different folders and make sure to update the new RC. Also you need NET 2.0 for new romcode to work.It work fine with an iso if anyone questioned that. Good Luck.......scort

You have to set your cams up in the new romcode.
Jlaborde, Open your romcode 4.1h, with your card in the ISO and click on CAMSETUP, fill in username and password, cliclk on ADD USER and then click on REFRESHCAM LIST. Wait till your cams are listed then close out the window. then program your card....

When I go inot vip files and download DT tierworks it ask me for a password when I try to open it.. I'm a vip member, but don't know the password to open the file. Can anyone help here or even better post the file would be wonderful:)

Getting an unhandled exception error on when attempting to write read the modified image bin file in N2edit. The step right before romcode. I can read the backup image fine. ever see this?

BTW: You should be using MT Tierworks now. DT Tierworks is way outta date now.

You may want to review these instuctions using DT-TierWorks 27[1].5 . For example it requires you to select tiers before you can save to bin. Also when saving to bin you must use the pull down and select bin102. otherwise got it to work no more black screen thanks.
