update romcode keys 1 step

close down romcode. goto the directory where romcode is extracted and open your settings.ini file with notepad. you will see at the bottom of the file all the keys and by default, they are blank. just paste the latest keys in, remove the blanks includeing the blank at the end of the paste. reopen romocode and program it as normal. now watch tv.

I was looking at the site and saw many different files.. does RomCode not go down with Rev updates like the freeware stuff does?

no its flawless. its the idiots that give good things bad names because they dont read. i am an idiot from time to time, but i dont trash things until i have done my homework. i still run 309 firmware on my 501 and i think we are at 360 or something like that but i dont upgrade unless the screen is black.

I have tried this about a dozen times now and for some reason, I can not get it to work. I cut and paste the newest keys from Mili's keygrabber and still get the 005 nag. I must be missing something.

This is one of the most up to date site. I have been looking for keys all day and this the first place to get them. all the other sites say site down. MAN what a time to be down. Guys, I *think* when updating the keys manually in RomCode....you do
NOT select the 'private bin'.

I haven't tried changing the keys in this manner yet, so this is just a
suggestion. After entering the keys in the 'Settings' file, close the
file by clicking the 'X' in the upper right corner of the window. You
will get a 'Save Changes....?' query. Click 'YES' when you get the
'save changes....?' box. THEN program your card and see if it
works.

I think that after you have written the private bin to a card it will keep that info until you write a different image to the card. I checked the info on the card after I cleaned it and the IRD and box keys stayed the same. I have not been checking the box for the private bin and all has been good.

I also use private bin and yes this method is the easiest way to change keyes thank you soooooooooo much and yes after you have programmed with private bin , clean card, copy and paste new keyes in ini settings file, save and program with romcode and do not check private bin. up here with a 3900 and a 510...

I have tried more than 10 times updating settings.ini in romcode 4.21 exactly following instruction but still getting 005. I put the latest key and I m running DP301-010 with ROM102..103 After programming showing version Rev 10A.

Any Guess guys ?

I don't know why ROMCODE doesn't come with any solution for changing key manually until they figured out autoroll.

thanks Kelowna Pitboy works great i did exactly what you said went to setting.ini changed keys saved it cleaned card first then programmed working like a charm so all you do is clean paste keys and thats it nothing else

I used that for my 510 and it was easy but my 510 was married so that box does not use the private romcode bin. the 3900 uses private bin and the ini cut and paste method worked for that one.

Romcode has been very good. Over the last 6 months it has been the most reliable thing around. You do need to pull you card and reprogram once and a while, but the application is so slick, this only takes maybe 10 seconds and there is no "thinking" involved.

Looks like an autoroll patch is out this morning. I'll wait till the romcode folks check it out. Could be risky to say the least.

cobra, i didnt even have to clean the card. just programmed it. i am not sure what cleaning the card does. i dont know alot about romcode other than it has worked for a long time without much effort.

I clean my card two times first with ROMCODE 4.21
On settings I m changing only Timezone, Private bin is unchecked
Modified settings.ini for key0 & Key1

Mine is doing the same thing, I copy/paste the new keys and then save. Verified they were saved and then cleaned and programmed as usual, still 005 nag. I hope Romcode offers a solution or an update before Sunday.

try without cleaning card. program card as normal with no keys first in the ini. then close romcode, put the keys in and reprogram. DO NOT CLEAN CARD. not sure why people are doing this.

I tried so many times with one step key change, didn't work. BUT finally I I did follow the steps
1 clean card with romcode 4.21
2 open nagramaster 3.8.1 and read card
3 Click on Get key at the top of the program
4 writh the image to the card
5 reprogram card with romcode 4.21(ofcourse with original settings.ini)
and finally it worked. Thanks a lot to .mdfsandman (http://dssftp.com/forum/member.php?u=34530)..

FOR THOSE IF SOME HOW one step key change doesn't work try this...

I downloaded the nagramaster 3.8.1 and when it tries to run it says VBWHYPERLINK.OCX or one of its dependencies not currently registered: file missing or invalid. Any ideas?:confused:

vbwHyperlink.ocx is a ActiveX control file. I m running Windows XP SP2 and I also have .NET 2.0. I have attached vbwHyperlink.ocx file to see if this can help. Copy this file to C:\windows\system32 I hope it helps..

See attached. I had to change the extension to jpeg. Please change extension to *.ocx after saving it to your pc. Copy it to C:\windows\system32

Note:- i am attaching vbwHyperlink.jpeg.
don't open in it just save it and change file extension
