Brain overload! A little help please?

Hello, I'm new to this and need a little help. I have been reading and figuring things out so far. But now I'm ready to actually watch tv and don't want to screw anything up. I have gotten my loader and iso modded, I vid modded and jtagged my 2 301-013 receivers and can read and write to them. I have 2 102 rev 103's that I unlocked and saved images all thanks to the help on this forum. Now my problem..I've read too many outdated howtoo's on programming I think and my brain is fried! I have one 301-013 that when ran sys. info said 102 rev 103..date activated...Never....software P203. The other is 301-013, 102 rev 103 has been activated in past. Software is P205. I've read the cards in gendt and others. Cards match receivers from what I can tell. Question I have is, What is the Current way to get these up and going? Do I open my image, clean codespace, save, then go into tierworks and create tiers and save, then patch them onto my cleaned image? Also what about blocker and auto roll? I have a few but am not sure what to use. Also, what do I have to do to tsop image to get it up to latest software and match new card? I've read the instructions in getdt 3.3 and am a little confused especially with the virgin card that only has one key on it and says it's never been activated. I would appreciate any help with this. I just don't want to ruin my cards on the first try. I can read if you can just point me to current links that work and are in "layman terms" for a newbie.. Thanks!

Dude you are off to a very good start!! I can tell alot of time and reading was put in before you had to post.
Do like SJ says (as far as shutting things down)then come back here if you still need anymore info.. You have a 301.013 not a dp311
main thing is be surte your card is locked before you put it in stream. DO this by making sure you have a good blocker on it. Try to read the card and if it fails then the blocker is good to go.
Also make sure you write your password down on paper so you will not forget it.

ok I can offer more than that this time :).
Make sure whatever your boxkeys and IRD# is on the files you want to use are the same on the IRD. Some flashes come with them already added for the ird.
as far as the procedure you have YES your right!
Read image, patch the image with a set of tiers you made, patch the blocker to the image(after you add your password) and then right the image that you just patched TWICE to the card.
If the ird# and boxkeys match and you have the current IDEA keys on the image then I'll be damn if you wont get some video.

If not then maybe read up or ask some more about the gen dt-08 thing or even maybe Sk's for that model

Good advise from the pro's here. I would start with the card that was activated. This is probably a true married ex-sub.

Open a COPY of the saved card file in MRtierworks and set up your tiers there. When you select Modify Bin File save the file with a new file name. You will not need to save a patch file.

Start N2edit and put your card in the ISO programmer. Reset card to be sure the communications are working correctly. Now read you card image, clean codespace 3 times and write this image back to your card.

Open the bin file you saved from MRtierworks in N2edit. Now you want to patch the blocker. You are using private numbers, so you don't want to patch one of the AIO blockers. If you want to try an auto-roll blocker, the one I am using is the CHv1.51b blocker. Open this file in notepad and change the password at the top of the file to one of your choice (hex numbers only). Save that file and then highlight all of the text in the file, right click and select copy.

Go back to N2edit and click apply patch from the tools menu. When the patch screen comes up, right click in it and click paste. The patch file should appear there. Click the apply patch file button at the bottom of the screen.

Now you are ready to write this file to your card, but first save this file with a new name. This way you will know what you wrote to your card if something goes wrong. Write the image to your card and once you get a successful write, try to read the card. It should fail. You are ready to go now.

Thanks for all your help everyone! I just needed it in layman terms. Although I couldn't figure out how to open my bin file in n2edit because it was trying to open .ini files? I got around it I think. Between the posts and the new how to for tierworks, I got them prog'd and locked and in the rec's! The first one took the ird software update pretty fast. I'm doing the second one now. Hopefully will have tv soon. Only one other questions if I can? I applied blocker and then tried to read. It failed..good. Then for the heck of it, I unlocked using password and that worked also. But how do I get it relocked again? I tried to reinstall the patch but that didn't work. I eneded up doing the card over again. There has to be a faster way? Just thinking about when I'll have to do key change down the road. Thanks again for all the Great help and advice!! I'll be happy with my tv again!! :)

Well, I have tv on the ex-sub! It took a minute but it took off. Now I just have to find info on getting the never activated ird up. Just wanted to say Thanks to everyone for the excellent help!! Thanks!:)

If you unlock your card, the first thing you should do is read it, clean codespace and re-write to card. Then you can do one of two things. One would be to just re-patch the blocker to the image on the card. You may have to re-read the card, I don't remember if you do or don't. The other thing would be to just load the image you saved before you wrote the blockered image. (another good reason to save before writing).

If I am doing a manual key change, I set up a bin file with a non-autoroll blocker. I open this file in Keygrabber and apply the keys and save. Each time you want to change keys, just follow the procedure above to unlock, read and write clean codespace to card. Then load the bin file with updated keys to N2edit and write to card. Always read card to make sure it fails to read.

Sounds good. I believe you will also need to click Save Card, and write that image to card. By the way, you can either put the tiers and blocker on before Gendt or after you use it. I usually put the blocker on after gendt because that part of the bin is subject to frequent change lately.

Thanks everyone for the help. I got my unmarried unit going also. I had to get the correct config file in GenDt and then I was able to modify the tsop and card images and save them and then prog. the ird and card and it took off. This site rocks! Thanks again!!
