Hi,
Someone wants to sell me an unlocked Rom 102 which is at Rev 106 or Rev 107. Are there any disadvantages in buying a Rom 102 at Rev 106/107 over a Rom 102 at Rev 103? If so, what are the disadavantages.
Thanks

There isn't much difference as long as it's already unlocked. You can always just write a virgin bin to it and make it a rev 103.

So there's no way in knowing if a Rom 102 card is a true Rev 103, or if someone just wrote a virgin Rev 103 bin to it, to make it look like a true Rev 103?
Thanks

all the same cards just what rev charlie last updated it to, higher the rev the harder to unlock and more odds it will loop unlocking.

Assuming that both cards are unlocked (Rom 102 @ Rev103 & Rom 102 @ Rev 107) will they both be equally the same for testing?
Thanks

If you unlock a 105 or higher rev card (or buy one unlocked), read the card, clean the codespace (3 times) and write this bin back to the card, it will be at rev 103. Do a reset on the card after writing and you will see. Be sure to save this image.

While writing a virgin rev103 to any rev105 or above card will allow the card to read as a 103, it is NOT truly a 103. Any rev105 or above had the cam ID written to the OTP at 3050. We can not change 3050 back to zeros by writing virgin bins, cleaning codespace, or sending D2Cs. This is not a problem at the moment, but the time may come when the providers compare the camID at 3050 with the camID at 30D8. Anyway, the way to tell a TRUE rev103 is that the line at 3050 will be all zeros.

Thanks for the info. I now understand that although a true Rev 103 is the same as a Rev 105 or greater that has been made into a Rev 103 by writing a virgin bin to it, the Rev 105 or greater may become a target in the future.
Thanks

I think cards with Rev below 105 will become more of a target - since they don't have correct numbers at $3050 and therefore were never properly updated by the stream.

First, you cannot place an unlock card at any rev into your ird; the sat provider can and will kill your card. You need an unlock card so you can use your iso to write, one, the virign 102 bin onto it then followed by, two, modified blocker 10B bin. Thus, the unlocked Rom 102 @ Rev103 & Rom 102 @ Rev 107 cards can be equally the same for testing. Personally, I will take the Rev 107 because it has private info (cam number and boxkeys) and you can save that Rev 107 bin. If the sat providers start attacking public bins; you can take save Rev 107 bin start using it with ird that properly configured with those private numbers.

What if this person who wants to sell me the unlocked Rom 102 card with rev 107 was using someone's public AIO bin and as such, it is no longer a Rev107 but rather a rev103 when cleaned. Doesn't this mean that this card no longer has the private info as it has already be overwritten with some AIO bin?

If they have written another bin to the card, like a public AIO, then the original numbers are gone, unless they saved the original bin. However, they also could have just read the original card, cleaned code space back to 103, then written the cleaned 103 bin back to the card. That way the original numbers are still intact and you would only know it is not an original 103 because the camID is written to the OTP (one time programable) at 3050 whereas a real rev103 has zeros at 3050. The camID at 3050 only becomes a concern when the camID at 3050(can not be changed) does not match the camID being used in the card bin. Such as the public numbers camID at 30D8 is 03 9A 31 74, but the camID at 3050 is AA BB CC DD or whatever. This is all speculation, but since the providers wrote the camID to 3050, one can assume there was a reason. This difference between camIDs may be able to be masked with a blocker, but will just have to wait to see what providers do. My guesses anyway.
