View Full Version : Gentleman Jack
After having a few and fogging my mind, I say JD is the only true whiskey. All other brands are imposter's. I personally believe Jack Daniels is the last remaining whiskey. All others should be from now on considered as bourbon. Can anyone prove me wrong?

In Canada , our creme of the crop is Crown Royale . You don't add mix to this one .
Do you guys get that "over there" ?
Down here a southern gentleman would never mix anything and that includes ice to something as good as No. 7 or up grade. Although I must confess my wife has leanings towards the northern drink. Remember, she is a woman.

Hmmm ... when my Dad was laying dying, I asked him if he'd like me to pour a bottle of Jack Danials on his grave. He looked at me and said that was a thoughtful gesture.
THEN I asked him if he minded me straining it through my body first.
Thats being frugal. No need to waste good whiskey.

I was always partial to Jim Beam myself. Not to mention that the premium barrel aged seditives come from kentucky.

Some ignorant people call JD "Burbon" here in good ole' TN we call it
ZIPPING WISKEY. The destilery is in Linchburgh, TN (been there many times and I have taken many tours throgh the destilery), it goes back over one hundred plus years. A very funny fact is that Linchburgh, TN is a DRY COUNTY, so you can only purchase Jack Daniels at the souvenir shop in the destilery and it costs you twice as much as if you bought Jack Daniels anywhere else in Tennesse because you must pay a very stupid and high sin tax.
These are all facts.

I never could really tell the difference between whiskey and bourbon, I guess that I burned out my taste buds on the shit.
JD has some of the finest sippin I have ever had. Single barrell is very smooth. The Gentleman has the best taste of any. George Dickel is another good bourbon from the state of tn. I like the idea of the 10ft. filtering but for me, All maple chars does the trick. No city water either.
I never cared how it tasted.
I only drank it to get drunk, Ole green label stuff was nasty but I liked the square bottles. :)
Saturn is correct in his post, all of it.
I do not miss the taste or the effects of alcohol of any kind. Some people can enjoy it and there is nothing wrong with that, some of us just Can anymore it makes us drunk, Boy the stories I could tell :), growing up in the south, Southern Comfort, George D, JD, even old Evan W.
Crown was for spacial parties and we always kept the purple bag to keep our other stashes in..
Ahhh the good ole days, I do not miss them.
you guys enjoy and please drink responsibly as in NO DRIVING!!!!, no wife beating and no rough housing with the kids :) Learn when enough is enough. remember if ONE is to many then 1000 will never be enough.
FUBR"S tip for the day :)

It ONLY MAKES ME THINK OF TRINITY,or TRI.
I do know of two for sure, by the way you rock little girl (Lady).
It DOES MAKE you piss and moan and grown!, then you jump up and speak jap.
Then you go back home, back to pushing little blocks of your mind, then you mourn for time.

Have any of you ever tried George Dickel Tennessee sour mash whisky?
Its good stuff IMHO, i converted from Jack and Beam to Dickel.
Ex is a bartender and invited me to a liquor party for Dickel, i have been drinking it ever since.
Try it, you might like it, and save a few bucks in the process.

Nothing beats some good ole' Gentleman's Jack
Dickel makes a good drink. Evans is a little heavy on the char. My stomach wont handle the Turk. cant say that I have ever liked a sour mash but have had a lot of it. I sure am happy at christmas. All the vendors know of my love for JACK.
Saturn055,
You seem to be a very knowledgeable guy on this subject. I have a question for ya. I once hunted with a guy from the area of lynchburg. His story was that in the barns or warehouse, there are bars on only the first 2 stories. Around hunting season every year, the third floor barrels spring more leaks than at any other time of the year. Making the suggestion, that hunters will climb the barns and leak the barrels. He says that with the onslaught of colder weather, barrels are easy to put a kinfe through a seam and leak the whiskey. Say's its a little known fact that Jack himself knew of this and prohibited anyone from doing anything about it. Can this be true?
Gobble gobble!!! yep I forgot about that funny looking turkey, get close to the bottom of the bottle and his kneck gets EVEN more crooked if you look at it

1ONE, this sounds like a great story.
When you take a tour of the destilery they first put you in a room with a group of people and this native old timer guy comes out and tells you stories that to us are funny but they are also true.
We in this area take a lot of pride of our Jack Daniels since it's only made here at home in Tennesse.

1one don't forget the Scottish products!
Just picked up a bottle of single malt Glenfiddich to give to my 86-year-old father for Christmas
Every year I think well, this could be the bottle that kills the old boy but not yet......he's happier on Christmas morning than my kid lol
And then a few months later he asks for another bottle for his birthday...
Must be something good in there!
Ah yes the Scott's. If history serves me correctly, They brought whiskey making to America. I believe it was first introduced to the state of Penn. It was some kind of conflict with the Irish that made most whiskey makers move to Kentucky. That would be Bourbon County.
Ah! A fresh bottle. Stand by for tonights antics. Or, should we share the wealth with another site?
