It been tried here before
that are so many of the systems in use now, that is impossible
the new system is impossible to break
they each add a IP to each user
free internet? count me in
I doubt if it's free, more like a 128k $16/mth sub and ramp it up to 6 megs ($45/mth) without paying more.
The Cable Co's are pretty slick, they have bots that check everything but good luck anyways.
The IP's are dynamic, literally impossible to get a static IP these days, so that's one area that can be exploited but don't count on it!

Far be it for me to conterdict a Mod with the powers of the allmighty (Bruce & Evan).
But I have been doing cablemodems on 3 seperate networks for bout a year now.
I have never had problems. What new system do you speak of DOCSIS 1 Vs 2?
People are hacking cablemodems everday. I have never stepped outside the sb4100/4200 or 5100 series (motorola).
The only prolem I have seen is these hacks won't work on the VOIP modems around 1 in 1000 would be a good guess for obvious reasons.

Hey, no one here is doubting you. The fact is some Cable Co's are making so much Money that they need a write off and only so many upgrades to the network one can do.
My cable outfit did a free upgrade from 3 to 5 megs, and now after the new year for only a few dollars more 12Megs. The tv box is S.A. and using some motorola modems, my Cable provider has more money than God and looking to spend more.
Those modems you mentioned will be swapped out and sold to some Cable outfit in Idaho or whatever. It's all old stuff, and as they ramp up it's basically obselete hardware.
The phone companies now have fibre and talking 16megs......but only for a select few as it's in beta. I'm more than 10,000 feet from the C.O. hence DSL for now isn't an option but with fibre.....and the 'War' continues and it's only better for the end user!
So please help those that need your Wisdom and disregard any perceived (whether real or imagined) slights. The Mod you are referring to is a Straight Up Guy, so share your knowledge, since this is what this Site is about.

I am not looking to start a debate about weither it can or cannot be done. Filtering has always been aart of the process. You need to filter out all the other signals when dealing with cablemodem.
The left over signal is raw digital.
If you have a motorola modem you can check your signal position by entering
192.168.100.1
in your url.
Then several places will sell you a matching filter. no biggie.
The 5100 cable modem has static ip assignments. They rarely monitor ip addresses unless they go over an assigned quota. If you go over a quota they will disable the ip in a peticular node cluster. If they do then viola scan the network, get a new image file rework the ip to something else and off you go again.
This is not nearly as hard as they would have you believe it is. I have been on the same file now for 10 months. no tweaks just access at 10/.768

Could you explain more about what you are talking about. How do you check your check your signal position. And what does it do for me.
Also are you talk about having a sub and being able to have a faster connection?

I am sure I just mean the frequency just incase you nee to filter to bypass the cable signal for your modem.
You can do this with or without a sub. If the cable company owns the modem it's not a good Idea to mess with it. They can be had premodded for 50-70 bucks US.
depending on what image files are present in the carrier you can have up to 30 Mbps. download speeds.

Was if hacked? If so they probably did an ip sweep and shut it down. I have never worked with ambit other than placing their firmware on the 5101's.
I can look around. and let u know. is it black or white? if memory serves it lays down and not up on it's edge like motorola.
