Hi I was wondering if anyone can let me know if there is a way to pickup the west cost locals such as 244 CBSW ABCW, FOXW etc... i read they were recently switched to being spot-beamed? and i am not on the west cost. I was reading in another forum that it is possible to do a some sort of manual scan and pick them up, the instructions were for a FTA reciever though. I have a ProgDVB setup with vplug. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Move to the west coast. That's about the only way I know of. Been messing with this off and on all day. Charlie is spot beaming all the locals now as far as I can tell. I can't get any local outside of my spot beam except for the East coast distant network feed. There was rumor of being able to get Atlanta and San Francisco on 110 or 119, but I tried that, and no go. For now, it looks like the East coast distant locals still work, but for how long I don't know. This really sucks for folks like me who are football fans.

JT do think this is permanent I like being able to watch the network shows that start later out west.
Charlie was sued by Dave and forced by court order to no longer provide distant network feeds. If you had the distant network feeds, you could get 12-14 of the weekly football games for only about $6/month. Where as with Dave, NFL Sunday ticket runs about $200/year I think....or even more now. That was the beef, so dave sued Charlie and won. That's why Charlie is spotbeaming almost all locals now. Hopefully the appeal will be granted, and we'll get our distant network feeds back. I doubt it will happen in what little is left of this football season though.

Thanks for the response JT, i too am a football hence i missed some of these locals last Sunday, I also found it nice to watch a show that i missed 3 hours later when it is shown on the west coast. In my hunting i did discovered some new locals i never had before at 5731-5738 and they do appear to be San Fransisco locals, and Atlanta locals, so all is not lost.

The best solution right now is to pick up BEV and you have a west coast choice of 4 network stations from Seattle and locals from Boston for the east coast. Also the Canadian locals carry just about every NFL game depending on the nearest US NFL city. I don't keep up with all the games, but one sunday I noticed games were on from every NFL game on one or more Canadian locals.
Seems I may have been wrong about getting Atlanta and San Franscisco locals on channels 5731-5738. I'm gonna mess with it some more and report back.

What Sat and TP are the Frisco and lanta stations on? I checked Lyngsat and didn't see the Frisco or lanta listed on 5731 or 5738 on Sats 119 or 110. Atlanta is on Conus 110, ch 8300, Freq 12486 on the east coast.

San Francisco and Atlanta are located on 119 transponder 12428 channels 5731-5738. This is current as of right now, of course things may change...
Another option worth considering is to get a 8psk device (like the genpix) and then you will able to pick up a several east coast and west coast locals in HD (to include LA and NY). They are located on 129 and 61.5. There are no spotbeams on these two satellites so no worries for the forseable future.
Here is a list of available CONUS locals, these are mpeg4 HD channels so you need a beefy computer before you even try:
129
Kansas City
Denver
Atlanta
Albuquerque
Minneapolis
Los Angeles (these are still MPEG2)
Chicago
Nashville
Salt Lake City
61.5
Washington DC
Philadelphia
New York (these are still MPEG2)
Boston
