go to start, run and type regedt32. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion and click CurrentVersion and look for RegisteredOwner key. Change the name there. when done go to file and exit. also, its a good idea to make a backup of the registry before editing it.

Or if this to hard
re-format the disk
and put the program in again.

Microsoft even tells you how to do that.........

support.microsoft.com/kb/310441

They registry keys are not something i would recommend to someone Else
I even had to delete windows explorer off some computers because the kid kept getting into the files and delete them.
.
So you can see the notices that are in the window that you suggested support.microsoft.com/kb/310441
.
I would install the program before I have troubler getting to edit this, easily for a newbie

That registry edit disclaimer is just to cover their ass, I edit my registry a lot, never had a problem.

I do too
but some of the kids can barley get the OS started hahah
I re-format a lot too, cleans up the junk
If I got a new computer the first thing I would do in re-format it
no telling what left behind

...........here.

SJ, have a question and perhaps you or someone here can answer it.

Briefly, the two internet only boxes need motherboard replacements. Yeah, old P1 and AMD K6 running 98SE and AVG no longer supports the old O/S and time to go XP.

A friend purchased a whitebox from a clone reseller, had XP installed on the drive and was given a sealed CD of XP.

He gave me the CD, now I've done some research and know about the WPA (program authorization) and have read that OEM CD's don't have this installed.

His new box has a sticker on it, that reads OEM Version and Regist #.

So if I installed this sealed CD, will I have to go through the WPA or it's ignored and if not......could I use his OEM Reg. # on two boxes???

Ideally would like to remove it, there are sites that offer software to do it but McAfee Site Advisor targets these as sites that distribute Trojan/Spyware and the program in question isn't safe to use.

Help!

If he hasn't use it you could use it (only once)
I send you am PM with the hack on it

you can use it on as many computer as you want
and they all turn as registry with M$
you can download all the update you want with it.
