A few people has said that the picture quality is quite a bit grainy. How would you rate the picture quality?

well ... compared to my 6000U, and what I remember on my 301.013 BEFORE ... I would rate both audio AND video as better. Fewer digitalization problems, adjust your audio in the converted receiver (use your left and right buttons to adjust audio) and the audio in stereo is MUCH better.
