508 Pvr Help

i got a 508 and jtaged it and was able to get boxkeys. i did a vid mod, 4 wire 2 cut, and i did everything i was suposed to, did OJ1, open jkeys, pull down to 508,i can see boxkeys. go to flash programing, erase flash "1" 3 times, flash "2" 3 times, then turn on vidmod, write virgin DC3A, turn off vidmod, write virgin TSOP, unplug, take off OJ1, unplug jtag plug sat feed, power cord and insert card. No pwer light.?? I reopened jkeys and jtaged it again and now all i see is zeros . thats where im at. its been 5 days now dont know whats happening. Tried to o back to original state but no go. still zeros. no power light. i tried to let stream for a day now and nothing. is it dead? what am i missing? maybe my vidmod isnt really doing anything? but why is all my ird info zero'd out?

Only a guess, but the TSOPs might have been erased, but nothing actually was written back to them. I would try to write the U7 again. Even if the vid mod wasnt working, it should write 99% unless something was damaged on the MB.

still nothing, tried 5 times.i just have no idea. no green or red light on when OJ1 jumped.no power when its at normal state with card in or out. screen flickers but thats it. in jkeys, still zeros in boxkey and ird. no info in bootstrap, buil config, model id and software.
now, when vidmod @ normal, i cant erase flash, when on i cant either, errors out. when switch is in middle (off) i can erase and program, but i know its not really erasing or programing. I think receiver is no good anymore or can i do something else? ive ran outta ideas!

no light with 0j1 on is normal. you may have to use wall to recover . use WALL2 to force write your tsop with 0j1 jumped. then see if jkeys starts working again.
I had to do this a long time ago. I read a file called something like 301 resurrection. or something like that. I'll see if I can find it for you.

ok, look for resurrecting_301-3100.zip in the files section. this is the method I used to revive my dead 501
of course you need to change the locations of the write.

isnt the red and green light supposed to be on when programing?

green stays on when ird is on, red is on when you recording the show, if both green and read light up, either corrupt flash or no flash at all. Try resurrection guide as ohms said. Make sure you flip vidmod right way. you know which way it is when you flash the ird, vidmod off giving you 99% error.

i would take longer to erase then a second,bout a min or so. Unplug the cord the hit ird reset, then start erase it. Try to flash u7 first to get bk and ird number, then switch over to jkey once the boot sector flashed.

Well when i did my buddy's 501, both lights were on when plugged in with OJ1 jumped. Not jumped it was only green, my 510, both lights were off to but i was able to flash U7 and works fine. for the 508, no lights, OJ1 jumped or not. Now when i use wall, it errors out. I start it errors out, click ok and i can use program but it seems like its not doing anything. In JKeys, its all zero's. Now when i try to flash program U7, vidmod OFF, errors out. 2 errors. So i turn vidmod ON and errors out. I tried 2 different switches, one with ON OFF, didnt work, one with ON OFF ON didnt work. I checked all my solder points and are all good. Trace cuts are cut. Jtag is good. Power goes to board, i have a lock and light is on. Just no light on front panel and seems like somehow im not able to flash it. I think ill just have to use it for parts. Im about to give up on this 1.

Above you say you turned the vidmod on to write the virgin DC3A and turned it off to write TSOP. First of all, you must have the vidmod on to erase flash 2, otherwise the last sector will not be erased. And it must be on to write to flash 2. No need to write to flash 1. You do not need to have the vidmod on to program the eprom. Try this:
Hook up your jtag
jumper OJ1
start jkeys
plug in the ird and hit detect
select 508 if it doesn't detect it
go to flash programming
erase flash 1 three times
select flash 2
turn on the vidmod
erase flash 2 three times
write the tsop image you want to flash 2
turn off vidmod
close flash programming
select eprom programming
write the virgin eprom
close eprom programming and close jkeys
unplug ird, remove OJ1 jumper, and remove jtag.
hook up sat feed to ird, put card in it and plug it in.
give it a few minutes to update and you should be good to go. If that doesn't work, I would be suspicious of the vidmod.

OK got it finally, vidmod was not good, mackscb made me wonder, so i joined my trace cuts, removed my vidmod, and did the no cut vidmod. Works great. Hard drive married.
