I was wondering if it is possible to convert the keyset from an ex sub 3900 for use on a 501/508/510 PVR? If so what would the steps be?

1. Load low rev virgin firmware with the IRD # and Boxkeys from my keyset to marry HD

2. Let stream update.

3. Gendt08 to copy keyset to 501 TSOP(?)

Anything I am missing? I am hoping to pickup a 501 soon and just want to know what to expect.

Absolutely, the only way I like to run PVRs is with a DT08 which is what the 3900 card bin is. Pretty much step 1 and 2 is all you need to do, don`t need #3 at all. When you get done, you can pull the card right out of the 3900 and put it in the PVR and have TV. Most of the virgin TSOPs out there have already had the SKs removed, but that is the one thing you need to check. Get a hex editor, open the virgin TSOP U7, go to the very bottom, check lines 3FFF40 to 3FFF90 - the entire set of lines should be F`s. After that, open the U7 in flashedit - MOVED BOOTSTRAP, change IRD# and BKs to the 3900 #s, and do step 1. Have fun!

how does the rest of my keyset get introduced into the 501 TSOP then? Is it generated when it takes a stream update?

I am also a little confused about this moveed bootstrap stuff. When I get the PVR do I just check it currently and make sure any of the images I use have the bootstrap in that location?

A DT08 card is essentially self-contained. It only needs the receiver to have the matching IRD# and BKs to work, no additional keys needed for legacy receivers or MODDED SK receivers. So what you are doing with the PVR is deleting the SKs so it will become a DT08 receiver. As for moved IRD info and moved bootstrap in flashedit, both modes are looking for the IRD#, BKs, and CRC. They just look in different locations. If you want to use a DT08 ( your 3900 card) then use moved bootstrap and it will write the IRD# and BKs to the correct location (3FFFC0) in your TSOP. If you use moved IRD info, then it writes the IRD# and BKs to a different location (3FFF40) where a SK card looks for the information. In your case, you should get all F`s when you open the U7 in flashedit moved IRD info advanced mode, but end up getting your IRD# and BKs in moved bootstrap advanced mode.

well i got my pvr this afternoon. Looks like I got it to marry the HD using p063 and it updated to p364. Now hopefully I can put in an emu board and fire up cemu with my private bin and it will work. Now since p063 seemed to be setup for dt08, FF'd 3FFF40, does that mean p364 is still setup for DT08? or will I have to redo that?

either way I'm happy I atleast made some progress :)

Yep, the P364 will be set to DT08 just like the P063 was so you`re fine. I don`t do CEMU so can`t comment on that, but if you had your rom102 from the 3900, it should work fine. You`re doing good. Good luck with the rest.

wow, i can't believe it was that easy to do a PVR and use my private keyset. Only had to flash my TSOP that one time to get the HD to marry and after I got all the emu wiring taken care of it was done.

Only issue I had was getting the mobo out of the case to get the holes for the emu cable cut.

Thanks alot for the help dave, probably wouldn't have been nearly as easy without your help!
