View Full Version : Can I use an old Jtag interface with a 301 reciever?

I have a Jtag interface that I used to use on 2700 & 2800 recievers. I believe it has 5 Jtag pins plus 3 ground pins. Does anyone know if this will work for a 301-010 reciever? How many files do I need to read and save from this 310-010?

If I'm correct, the 301-013 is different. Why the need for the new buffered Jtag with batteries? Are the batteries used instead of plugging in the reciever power cord?

Thanks for the reply.

I now understand that my 301-010 only has one TSOP that needs to be read and saved or backed up in the event of ECM. I understand the connections of the Jtag reader/writer, when to connect them, when to power the ird etc., and how to reload the bin file to the ird after an ECM. I have done these steps before with older recievers.

However, I still do not understand the purpose of the batteries in the Jtag reader/writer. I have an old Jtag reader/writer that does not use batteries. The parallel connection and pogo pins appear to be the same. I don't want to damage the ird. Do I need the updated version of the Buffered Jtag (with batteries) or could I use my old one?

301-010 only has one TSOP that needs to be read EPROM/ bin 222 / Bin 223
you can use the old one, the later edition hand a ( 9 volt) and were buffered so were easies to use

I've read that you can download "public info" bins (and I've seen the files in the download section) for each ird. Is there an advantage to using a public bin versus what is already on the ird?

I know I have more reading to do regarding CEMU. I also need to order a MaxMel interface. I just want to learn as much about this type of testing as I can before I order.

Thanks again, you've been a big help!

download "public info" bins give you more channels and they have been tailored not to be hit with the ECM, do you want the 30 or 200 channels.
.
DON'T forget a blockers, or you card will be ruined.
.
CEMU is old stuff, still working, I use one to get the Keys I post here.
.
There is a new one st19 that everybody is taking about, it cost more, is harder to use.

I obviously would prefer 200 channels. So flashing the public bin to my TSOP would give me 200 channels, rather than 30 channels with the existing bin?

From what I've read, I thought CEMU was camless (or cardless). Why would I need a blocker if it does not use a card?

I think I'll start with the older method (cemu) to get my feet wet, as long as it still works. Is there an advantage to st19, or just the challenge?

It's either that or learn to create you one .bins
the old CEMU does not need a card
the new EMU, some do, some don't use a card
the blocker if it does not use a card is for you card if you use a card.
it CEMU work for me
they are always coming out with something new
