Finally.. After hundreds of dollars WASTED on "universal" remotes that are never quite good enough to actually replace all of my device remotes, I have achieved nirvana! Yes, ALL of my device remotes are tucked away in a drawer with the batteries removed. I now have a single remote that functions well enough to allow me complete control over may home theater systems.

My criteria is this.

1. It must be able to control ALL functions of each device.
2. It must support MACROS where multiple remote clicks can be represented as a single click.
3. It must be simple enough for my dear wife to use without cursing. :)

The Logitech Harmony 1000 remote achieves all of the above, plus more.

It has a small dock that acts as a charger. Stoping the battery insanity. :)
It is small and clean enough to not be a decor problem. (Wifey's rule)
The settings are configured in plain English. No looking up manufactures codes and trying them to figure which one to use.

It is an expensive device, but so is the rest of my home theater system. I don't mind paying for quality.

Wife has arthritic hands. What are the dimensions and weight?

I use ReplayTV boxes, do you know if it supports ReplayTV?

Thanks,

It's about 3/4" thick and lays flat on the table flat. It is about 5 1/2" wide and 4" tall. The screen is a touch screen with big icons so it's easy to use. There are some buttons on the right, but they are far apart and easy to use. Vol up/dn and Chan up/dn. I just checked, and it does support ReplayTV.

of all the headaches I have had with keeping up with remotes I would say it is worth it :)
But not to me LOL...
does it have ringtones or is it wi-fi? haha

I know fubr. You could buy a serviceable car for that much money. Actually, I did a side job for a guy and he bought this for me as a "bonus" for getting done under budget and on time.

I have been using a harmony 768 (before they were bought out by logitech) for YEARS and i love the thing.

When their website was down a few months ago and i needed to sync my remote it was PAINFUL not having it.

I have nothing but good to say about the product and the company.

Yeah. The ONLY complaint I have is that you must be online to program the remote. That is stupid. I can see updating the software, but the remote is useless if you can't get online.

But..... I don't see any reason to reprogram mine right now. It is working way to well. I am very very happy with it.

i have a harmony 676 and it is perfect for me. It controls everything i have. 501pvr, coolsat 4000, dvd changer, surround, vcr, ps2, xbox. I was amazed that it supported the coolsat. It is significantly cheaper too, probably about $60-$70 these days. I love the "Activity" buttons, turns everything on with 1 button. I'm gonna have to look at the 1000 and see what its like.

Sounds like the same thing only in a updated package.
