Make sure your mini USB jack is a 5 pin one or the card will appear to be dead. Bishop will post the correct Disikey and ratshack part numbers soon. That explains the problem people are having with undetected cards even after proper driver installation.

Office Depot (U.S.A.) Ativa 5 pin mini B adapter item 937-095
(House brand in stock) $ 9

Thanks to mili from dssftp we have found out today that not every USB mini plug cable will work with the Enigma cards. I have asked Scherbius to look into the problem. Please understand that we test every card prior to shipping. If off the bat your computer does not see it despite proper driver installation as per the instructions it is possible that your cable is not good for the Enigma cards. Once we have pinpointed this compatibility issue we will post the findings.

I received my enigma card last week. I ran the file to load the USB drivers like the instructions stated. I loaded the rom and waited until it was finished. I then attempted to load the newest eeprom that comes with EnigmaEdit 3.1.5 and it locked up. I waited an hour and rebooted the pc. I am now getting;
USB Device Not recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. When I press ‘Test Card’ it shows testing in progress for ~ 30 sec.
It then shows USB-> Bad CPU->? ROM->? EEPROM ->?
The Computer is seeing the USB device but not associating it with the drivers.
I tried older versions of EnigmaEdit.
I used a Belkin Gold 5 pin USB cable.
Then I tried a Rat Shack 5 Pin USB Cable.
Then I tried a Staples 5 Pin 'best that they had' cable .
I tried each of these cables on 3 different PC's.
I looked at the card under a magnifier and didn’t see any broken or loose connections
Is there a way to ‘reset’ /'virginize' the Enigma Card. If not, how can I return this doorstop and get a functional one?

Thanks

Even with new 5 pin USB 2.0 mini usb cables, I was getting an error. Installing Enigma_Driver_Installation.exe from EnigmaEdit3.5 or 3.6 didn't help. What did work was copying the two files, Enigma.inf and Enigma.sys from EnigmaEdit3.2 .
I copied them to two locations. C:\Windows\Drivers\ and to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ . I then rebooted and plugged in the card. It saw it immediately and since. Try it, it works! Thanks to Mili & Bishop thier support.

After clicking on Enigma_Driver_Installation.exe from EnigmaEdit3.6 I got the message that the USB drivers were installed. I still got an error when attaching the Enigma card. I copied the two files, Enigma.inf and Enigma.sys from EnigmaEdit3.2 to two locations. (C:\Windows\Drivers\ and to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ .) I rebooted and plugged in the card. It saw it immediately and has seen it since. No more USB problems. ... All I can tell you is that this works.
