I have been away from testing for the last 6 months - kinda gave up after the avr-x thing imploded , but can't resist something new.
?
I have an old old old 3900 box
is enigma safe to use with my married sub?I dont want to mess with my tsop
I know I will need a jtag to get my info and put in enigma- anything else other than jkeys needed?
enigma software of course

I think I have another box on a shelf - status unknown - model 2700 ex sub

which box do you suggest testing with?
Are Mili's shipping procedures the same eg money order -canada ship or does he now do ups fedex
I got quite a few months of tv from the avr-x so it paid for itself, maybe this will work as long.

Thanks everyone for putting up with a perpetual nooby

I suspect if you can tollerate the software updates being slow, like what was with the AVR-X, then the enigma is probably ok. I would personally use the 2700 for the enigma and leave your currently subbed box alone. That way you don't have to worry about the card expiring, ect. Plus if you screw somenthing up on the 2700, its not a huge deal.

Thanks for the reply Stockwell

I will try the 2700 first but I am not even sure if it works or not , it was given to me.

get my enigma and a jtag and I will be in business

all my testing in the past has been with avr3 and avr-x and plastic done by someone else

got a little paranoid and threw out all my stuff so I have to requip

thanks again

I'm with Stockwell . Slap an enigma or a Atmega (rolling keys & freeze free) on the 2700. Like he said, then you won't have the issue of the card expirering.

Now watch this drive.

It is very easy to get the atmega running with no freezing and auto-roll! I don't know if theres a how to, but all you need is jeepers and the latest atmega fix and its very self explanatory. You can get that at thefileshop.com and an atmega at dssdooda.com

This is an atmega with the programmer for $22.
Change hxxp to http

Why don't you run to your local electronics shop and grab a few 100 Ohm resistors and a db25 end. A foot of cat5 wire and just solder in your jtag. Its VERY simple. If not pm me about a pogo pin jtag if you want. I never use mine anymore.

if atmega works well why is anyone bothering with the other stuff? sounds too good to be true
I see very little info on atmegas.

atmega or enigma which is best I guess I need a jtag either way

I think a lot of testers frown on the atmega because it's so low tech from a users point of view. The coders are the real brains behind the success of the card. Here's the atmega thread for you to read,
hxxp://www.dssftp.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=99

Enigma 3.9 is out. You may want to monitor the feedback on this version software while you're rigging the jtag to your box.

Yes, you will need a JTAG for either card - choice is yours.
