Looks like some one has been snooping in the not so private private messages.

Further into the thread Snags says that no admin or mod at 10x is actually reading the pms.... He says he was reacting to members complaints that they were receiving pms trying to sell stuff

Nothing is safe anywhere, life = risk.

It kinda makes you wonder.

Still, you should be free to PM another member who you may know personally or just done a deal with before and arrange a new deal if you want. I suppose that wouldn't be a problem because nobody would report the PM in that instance. The whole issue leaves me with a feeling that at least Snags is reading at least a portion of the PM's.

how would you do that? I'm asst. admin. on a private small site,
don't see that's a option in vbulletin

yes you can read others pm, its really how everything is coded from when the site is first created, all bugs/hacks installed will give you access to certain surprising things.................................gcan

They don't want you selling anything via pm that's all if you get caught selling something via pm and someone complains your banned thats it.Snaggs is having enough trouble right now he don't need any more.

Hehehe...:)

PM's can be read by anyone who possesses the required administrative privileges. That would be Mili. That doesn't mean he sits around reading them. My guess is that only in the case of suspected scamming, hacking, extreme shit stirring or other deviated activity would he ever bother to do so. If you're screwing your neighbor's wife and can't wait to tell your testing pal about it, I'm quite certain there's no site administrator who would even give your PM a passing glance. If you're making plans to DDOS the place, then yeah, the admin might take a look.

I'd say unsolicited PM's offering to sell pirate equipment deserves a ban on behalf of the solicitor. If two friends want to PM each other to discuss fees for unlocking a 102 card or purchasing a receiver, I can't see where it's anyone's business or that it should warrant banning the two participants.

hell I been trying to post in this thread all day long, something always comes up.
anyway, If I owned something that someone was trying to destroy would I not do whatever I could to stop it from happening?

It is no big secret that the Almighty Admin of a good constructed board can see pm's if he needed to.
Not saying snags does or dont, just saying it can be done.

get a pm read it and delete it.
send a pm clean out your sent box, just dont save any pm's
Like twostep says I doubt anything to gain would come from reading a pm, anything worth reading would not be posted by a person stupid enough to use pm's to spread discontent or damaging to a board
