Ok I got my atmega up and running for BEV 3100 through a guy locally (totally unreliable) and it lasted 2 days before black screen with guide but no video or audio.
1) Does this mean I am not autorolling?
2) Back before the Nagra 2 changover I bought a small Atmega programmer off another guy but never used it (never had to as the card never went down). Anyway I want to use it now and try to do the cards myself. The programmer has the 25 pin female input and the card slot. I just bought a cable for it 25 Pin male to serial port. Is this the right cable? The computer does not seem to recognize it? I can't seem to figure out the add new hardware route, what can I do?
Thanks for your time!

You have jeepers with the pfg that you want to use in the jeepers folder, right? That's what you're not able to recognize?
and yeah, it's not autorolling, you have to change the keys manually, bev changes them quite often

No I can't even find the hardware (programmer) as being a device on the computer. Thats what not being recognized. Thats why I was asking what do I do with the programmer after I plug it into the back of the computer. Perhaps I have the wrong kind of cable connecting it?

yeah I understood... but maybe if you just tried opening up jeepers (which is the program you need to work on your pfg), with a pfg in the jeepers folder, you would see that actually it is working....

Thanks for responding, sorry about the basic nature of the questions!
Ok so I have the Jeepersdx program open and how do I tell that it senses the programmer?

try programming a pfg ;)
get the latest working one for Bev, I'm not sure what it is
go through the settings and select what you need/want....enter the latest working keys
then erase a few times (Atmel 128, erase flash/eeprom), then do full monty
see if it works

Tried to erase flash and its says failed to enter program mode which means that there is some sort of disconnect between the Computer and Atmega programmer. So back to one of my prev questions
Can these programmers be connected from the programmer to the computer using a 25 pin male to a serial port input on the computer? I assume that this programmer has no AC power source? It doesnt seem to have any Adapter inputs? Finally it says on the programmer that its for Atmega 128 smartcard only and thats what I have unless the programmers have changed in the past 2 years? Finally How do insert the atmega card into the programmer? the same way as the IRD?

Well you want to try programming it with the card in the programmer!
but now anyway I am not sure what kind of programmer it is you have?
The basic small one that I have, the programmer fits onto the end of the 25 pin cable
You put the pins on the card into the holes on the programmer lol
but you may have a different type of programmer??
You have a slide in type atmega programmer and it doesn't require additional power - it gets power from a serial port. Try to put atmega into programmer both ways - upside down.

are you useing a lpt to serial adptor or a 25 pin cord{ 25 pins at both ends of the cord} make sure it not a printer cord i would just use a genderchanger and put it in the 25 pin port on your computer.card goes upside down in the programer.also put a buisness card on top of your card to make a good conection

Ok thanks again for the replies
The connector from the programmer to the computer is
25 pin to serial port connection. Is 25 pin to 25 pin a better choice? I think that the computer is just not seeing the device at all.
Do the newer programmers come with USB connection?
Thanks

An atmega never shows up in the device manager. The unit is more of a connector than a programmer. There is no active components on it, just a couple resistors & caps. You need a 25 pin male to male strait thru PARALLEL cable or a male/female cable with a male/male gender bender. The only way to tell if it's working is to try writing with Jeepers

Ok I bought a gender changer for the 25 pin printer connection. Now I can literally plug the programmer into the back of the computer through the parallel port. I opened up JeepesDX and atmel and click atmega 128 and try to do anything and it wont enter program mode. I have tried the card in there both ways and still nothing. What am I doing wrong here?

Ok you got a slide-in programmer, a cable with a gender changer, what kind of Atmega you got...pls don't say green or red lol.
Presuming this cabling setup is going to work...and your programmer is ok....the rest is easy
Open up jeepers. In "program" select your pfg, which is also in the same folder where you have jeepers. Make sure you have the latest working pfg for Bev.
Select your keyset ...no rsa I hope. IN Board, select your atmega's speed...the same as written on the card
Select tier package.
Then enter the latest keys for Bev. Then select your time zone.
Then under Atmel, select Atmega 128, then erase flash eeprom a few times
Then full monty
That should work, provided your cable works (from what I understand, it should work through a gender changer but I've never tried that) and there is not something different with the slide-in programmer, which I've never used
good luck

Ok thanks for the help but everything I have tried that people have suggested hasnt worked. So my conclusion is that the slide in programmer is crap. Anyway, any suggestions on doing it yourself with another programmer?
1) Should I stay with the atmega style programmer and get the same type, they are cheap.
2) The ISO programmer type (serial connection) that Mili's sells will work with an atmega correct?
3) Should I just scrap the Atmega and go with an enigma?

1. No, not the same type. If you suspect the prob is the slidein programmer, then yeah abandon it and get the 25 pin programmer. However, you may wanna check your connections, make sure that your cable and friggin gender changer are tight, and make sure you are sliding the atmega into the programmer the right way.
2. no
3. maybe lol

okay you have the jeppers and pgf in the same folder.when you click on jeppers does any error come up if no put your card face down in your programer with a buissness card or something like that on top of it.to get a good conection.next go to perferences click, then click ox378 then ok. click your key set, then atmel,to atmega, alternative chip clean,if it saysflash/eeprom erased successfull{should say that with in a second or two if longer then that i would say it is your conection or your cyrstal may be damaged}my jeppers says flash/eeprom erased successfull even if i do not have a card in the programmer.so if yours is saying failed to enter program mode when you click on alternative chip clean i do not think it is your card or programer then.you said someone else did your card for you [iam not sure if they can put a password or not on a atmega maybe someone can anwser that]ps keep trying the chip clean over and over again, wiggel your card and keep try
