Dish require a contact
If you can qualify, and you own your own set up you can get monthly basic
I still say get a receiver that is easy to handle 310.10
and a card that is easy to use Enigma Cards
and go fro there to other things
Ok i'll just sign up for basic.
Not sure what you mean by easy to handle??? If something is easy to handle AND meets my needs i'll for certain get that, but if it won't support my needs why bother getting it? not too worried about cost, because what I was going to get was around $120 a month!
I just want to view HD channels, and be able to DVR if possible.
Optional is that the box has 2 TV hookup.

what he is saying is, any HD DVR box is not a easy box to mod. more than likely you will fuck it up. It is wise to start low. such as a 508 DVR player. it is actually not a newbie box. most people start with a 2700 and work up. I did a 3700, 4900, 301.010 a 301.013 then onto 510, then 311,322 ,522. those boxes pretty much get more difficult than the previous. I started low and worked my way up. Of course my credentials of electronics isn't as vast as your now let along when i started.
Well I was just thinking since I can mod Video games, SNES, DC, PS1, ps2, xbox, xbox 360. Setup large MAME cabinets, program roms, setup routers (REDBACKS, not cheap cisco crap) I should be able to get a receiver to work. The biggest problem is always going to be finding proper documentation. If I can find that then it's just a matter of applying the same concepts and theory to a receiver. Not that I don't want to start low and work my way up it's just I don't want to buy 10 receivers to find out I could have just got what I wanted to begin with because it wasn't all that hard after all.
Thanks for the tips though.
Since DVR is not a MUST right now what would you suggest for a mid level box that at least offers HD?

An 811 receiver at a low rev is not that hard to do. You can still get mpeg2 HD channels with it. Problem is...if you loop the internal cam b4 you unlock it, you are SOL.

What do you mean by that? I have looped 811 Icams

The lizard king linked to a service that would put a new icam into your box for you if you looped the old one. That's why I edited out the link to the site. The site also sold products that compete directly with Mili's store.
I was looking at the 811 and found the 311 patch specs for it and the programming info, but when I click on the 811 link it says not available? Does that mean it's no longer sold her or just no longer sold period? I would like to start off with that and get a programmer and see how it goes.
