Hi All

I have been trying to upgrage my PVR with a non-
supported hard drive. The old one was a 4L120L0
and the new one is a 6L200P0. I think I know about
half of what I need to know to make it work.
Here is my progress so far. I edited my E552 by
changing the entry for 6K040L0 to 6L200P0.
I wrote FF to the new drive to help me track the changes the PVR made to it.
I copied the marrage licences from the old hard drive to the new one using winhex.
I booted the system up and it came up saying " A serious
hard drive error has occured and your hard drive needs to be formated. you will loose all recorded programing."
After agreeing, I could here the hard drive spin up but
after that the system just seemed frozen. If I re-booted the system it would give 0457 hard drive not found until
I removed power.
Next I cloned the old hard drive to the new one.
Now I get error 04e4.
The new hard drive passes dst-2.

Anyone had success with this and can lend some advise?
Thanks

i do not know What model of receiver you have, by the firware revision i can assume it is bev, a 5100 or something i think. Anyway, you can try loading virgin firmware on the receiver, and ffing out the harddrive and let it marry itself. See what that does for you.

Thank you for your reply

Yes, I had considered that too. It is probably what I will try next.
I was just hoping not to have to go throught that step too.
I should have been able to format the drive with "play-play-recall" but
it didn't work either

And yes, the ird is a 5900.

since you are not replacing it with a original HD i am not sure what else you can try.
