Hello all,

I'm a maestra orphan... (oh, woe is me)

So, my first post here - I've heard only good things about dssftp and of Mili.

I've read the thread about Bev's 'demand letter' and I'm happy that I haven't bought anything online in over 5 years...

I'm testing with a DVB now and I'm loving it. My question is about the legality of DVB.

I'm guessing it's about the same as FTA (unmodified) but there is a difference. FTA's have to be flashed with a bin to allow decryption.

DVB's are not flashed nor modified. You need a bit of software (vplug or emunation) to be running in the background to allow decryption.

So, my question(s);

Are DVB's legal? Is vplug illegal? Or is the act of running vplug illegal?

And most importantly, how can the law be enforced with a DVB?

Any thoughts are welcomed.

Any flash which encrypts BEV / Dish is illegal

The FTA / DVB is legal -------
which does not the the BEV / Dish
add that, it is illegal

Thanks for the input smilingjack.

I don't want to come off as paranoid, but I don't have 1k to cough up...

So here's my setup;

I'm running my PC with a DVB card and I'm running vplug/emunation to decrypt off a USB drive keychain plugged into the front of my PC.

I physically pull the USB drive out of the pc each time I'm not watching TV (and stash it).

Any ideas if I've set myself up with a false sense of security or am I more or less 'safe'...

Don't tell anyone you don't really trust about it and you'll never get caught.
