Atmega 128 Help!!

Hello everyody, i have been out of testing Bell express vu since the nagra 2 update. I am just wondering if atmega 128 still works, and what program or how the procedure would be to program it again to get it working?
And do we just use jeepers or do we use something else now?

Help would be greatly appreciated!!

**If it is not indicated below, the steps are the same for both the 2700 and 3100.010**


Before doing anything:

- Check that your ird has the latest f/w (2700 - E581, 3100 - E540 or E541). If it does not, you will need to follow the steps outlined further down regarding forcing a f/w (firmware) update. I tend to like doing this in the sequence listed below as if you do this first, you will not have a tsop backup of your ird's current f/w.
- In your ird's MENU screen, choose- 6 - 1 - 5 (upgrades) and set to WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.
- If you have a digilock installed on your ird, set it to OFF. These are really not needed anymore and I personally never liked them ... but anyhow, that is a whole different ball game

WHAT YOU NEED

1 - IRD + REMOTE

2 - JTAG (preferably a solder style jtag using ejtag pads on top of ur ird's board - search forum for how to)

3 - ATMEGA 128 CARD + PROGRAMMER (many variations out there)

4 - COMPUTER WITH FOLLOWING SOFTWARE INSTALLED (with parallel port available!)
-- JKEYS 2.0
-- FLASHEDIT 2.0a2
-- JEEPERS DX 2.1

5 - LATEST FIX (THANKS TEAM WICKED!!) Download and extract the pfg file into same folder as Jeepers.



HOW TO MODIFY YOUR IRD (2700 or 3100)

1 - CONNECT YOUR JTAG AND PLUG YOUR IRD INTO THE WALL

2 - LOAD JKEYS AND SEE WHAT IT DETECTS
- If ur IRD info is detected - great! If not, verify ur jtag connection & ground, and parallel port settings.
Do not continue until jkeys detects your ird info. This may require some playing.

3 - IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO BEFORE, SAVE YOUR IRD TSOP(S). 3100.010 = 2 TSOPS, 2700 =1
2700:
- On Jkeys main screen, select SAVE MEM and save file to a folder called VIRGIN TSOP
- If you do not reach 100%, try again. If still no go, unplug/replug ird, restart jkeys and redo step 3
- Once read successfully, open Flashedit, select ... to find your saved tsop file (.bin)
- Select OPEN. (If you get an error, ur read did not go well -- repeat the above steps)
- If you can see your ird info in flashedit - GREAT! Info should match the jkeys main screen

3100.010:
- On Jkeys main screen, select FLASH 1 in top right corner
- Select SAVE MEM and save file to a folder called VIRGIN TSOP (call this file F1_VIRGIN.bin)
- If you do not reach 100%, try again. If still no go, unplug/replug ird, restart jkeys and redo step 3
- Once read successfully, select FLASH 2 in top right corner of the Jkeys's main screen
- Select SAVE MEM and save file to a folder called VIRGIN TSOP (call this file F2_VIRGIN.bin)
- If you do not reach 100%, try again. If still no go, unplug/replug ird, restart jkeys and redo as of select FLASH 2
- When both flashes complete, open Flashedit, select ... to find ur saved tsop files (.bin)
**NOTE: U22 AKA FLASH 1 = F1_VIRGIN.bin / U23 AKA FLASH 2 = F2_VIRGIN.bin**
- Select OPEN. (If you get an error, ur reads did not go well -- repeat the above steps)
- If you can see your ird info in flashedit - GREAT! Info should match the jkeys main screen

4 - IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO BEFORE, SAVE YOUR IRD EEPROM (same procedure for 2700/3100.010)
- On Jkeys main screen, select EEPROM PROGRAMMING
- When prompted to unplug ird, replug & hit enter within 3 seconds, do so for 2700, no need for 3100
- Select SAVE and save file to a folder call VIRGIN EEPROM (call this file EEP_VIRGIN.bin)
- If you do not reach 100%, try again. If still no go, unplug/replug ird, restart jkeys and redo this step (step 4)


5 - CLOSE JKEYS. YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR JTAG CONNECTED AS IT WILL BE NEEDED SOON. SWITCH TO FLASHEDIT WHICH SHOULD ALREADY HAVE YOUR IRD INFO SHOWING (IN BEGINNER MODE). IN FLASHEDIT, CHOOSE ADVANCED

6 - MODIFY THE IRD # AND BOX KEYS IN FLASHEDIT TO THE FOLLOWING BEV PUBLIC KEYSET:
IRD HEX #: 02AF04CA
BOX KEYS: FD BF 2E 56 AF FA 72 64

7 - SELECT THE FIX CRC FIELD SO THAT CRC TURNS TO GREEN FROM RED.

8 - SELECT SAVE AS AND THEN CHOOSE SAVE PERSONAL DUMP:
2700: Save the modified file in a folder called MODIFIED BINS (u can call it whatever u want)
3100: You will be prompted to save two bins ... u22 aka flash 1 and u23 aka flash 2. Save both.
**You can actually delete the u22 file after saving since it is not needed**

9 - IN FLASHEDIT, SELECT SAVE AS AND THEN CHOOSE SAVE VIRGIN EEPROM
- This may be redundant to your virgin eeprom saved from the ird, but good to have

10 - YOU HAVE NOW MADE THE MODIFIED TSOP BIN FILES NEEDED FOR MODIFYING YOUR IRD!

11 - CLOSE FLASHEDIT, RUN JKEYS AND MAKE SURE YOUR IRD IS DETECTED (see above for what to do if not detected).

12 - SELECT FLASH PROGRAMMING
- When prompted to unplug ird, replug & hit enter within 3 seconds, do so for 2700, no need for 3100

13 - YOU SHOULD NOW SEE THE FLASH PROGRAMMING SCREEN APPEAR AND IT SAY TRAP FUNCTIONAL AT THE BOTTOM. IF YOU GET ANY ERRORS, CLOSE JKEYS, UNPLUG/REPLUG IRD, AND PERFORM STEPS 11-12 AGAIN. IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO CHECK YOUR JTAG CONNECTION AS WELL IF YOU ARE GETTING ERRORS, PARTICULARLY IF YOU ARE USING A POGO PIN STYLE (yuck!!

14 - IT IS TIME TO MODIFY YOUR IRD:
2700:
- Ensure FULL is chosen in top right corner and then select ERASE. Repeat Erase 4-5 more times
- Select PROGRAM and find the modified tsop bin you made in flashedit
- If the flash does not complete 100%, repeat the erase/program steps above until it does

3100:
- Select FLASH 2 IN TOP LEFT CORNER
- Ensure FULL is chosen in top right corner and then select ERASE. Repeat Erase 2 more times
- Select PROGRAM and find the modified FLASH 2 bin you made in flashedit
- If the flash does not complete 100%, repeat the erase/program steps above until it does

**DO NOT CLOSE THE FLASH PROGRAMMING SCREEN UNLESS YOUR IRD HAS THE LATEST F/W, AND IF IT DOES, CLOSE IT, GO BACK TO THE JKEYS MAIN SCREEN AND JUMP TO STEP 17**


15 - NOTE: FOR 3100 USERS ... THERE IS NO NEED TO MODIFY FLASH 1 WHATSOEVER UNLESS YOU HAVE AN OLDER F/W, SEE STEP 16!

16 - FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO NEED TO OBTAIN THE LATEST F/W, PERFORM THE FOLLOWING:
2700: - Select SA5 in the top right corner and then select ERASE. Repeat 4 more times.

3100: - Select FLASH 1 in the top left corner.
- Select SA3 in the top right corner.
- Select ERASE. Repeat 4 more times.

**YOU CAN NOW CLOSE THE FLASH PROGRAMMING SCREEN**


17 - HIT DETECT ON THE JKEYS MAIN SCREEN AND CONFIRM THAT THE MOD WAS SUCCESSFUL
(IRD # should be R 00 4502 4458-77 and Box Keys should be FD BF 2E 56 AF FA 72 64)

**IF THE IRD NUMBER AND BOX KEYS ARE NOT THE ABOVE, SOMETHING HAS GONE WRONG! Verify that your modified bin(s) do not have any typo's in flashedit, and repeat steps 11-17.

CONGRATULATIONS! You have now finished modifying your ird!


18 - PUT IRD IN STREAM, PLUG IT IN WITHOUT CARD (SEE BELOW FOR ATMEGA PROGRAMMING). IF YOU NEEDED TO PERFORM STEP 16, IRD POWER LIGHT SHOULD START FLASHING EVERY NOW AND THEN. THIS CAN LAST 10-30 MINUTES. IRD WILL TURN OFF OR GO TO SYSTEM INFO SCREEN WHEN DONE (feel free to program your atmega while waiting for the update CHECK TO SEE THAT YOUR IRD NOW HAS THE LATEST F/W. IF YOU DID NOT NEED TO PERFORM STEP 16, JUMP DOWN TO THE ATMEGA PROGRAMMING.


HOW TO PROGRAM YOUR ATMEGA (NOT DEPENDANT ON IRD MODEL)

1 - IF YOUR ATMEGA HAS A 3-PIN JUMPER, SET TO PROG.

2 - SLIDE/PLACE THE ATMEGA INTO YOUR PROGRAMMER WHICH IS CONNECTED TO YOUR PC VIA A PARALLEL CABLE (OR DIRECT TO THE PC DEPENDING ON YOUR SETUP)

3 - FIND YOUR JEEPERS SOFTWARE FOLDER, WHICH SHOULD ALSO HAVE THE LATEST PFG FILE IN IT AS WELL. RUN JEEPERS.

4 - CHOOSE YOUR APPROPRIATE NETWORK (I USE NO RSA EXPRESSVU)

5 - CHOOSE YOUR ATMEGA'S BOARD SPEED (Look at the silver crystal on your card ... most cards that I have seen are either 18.000 or 18.432)

6 - LEAVE KEYS ZERO'ED OUT SINCE LATEST FIX (Wicked 3M v2.1) HAS AR (autoroll) INCLUDED
NOOOOOOOOOOO*********ENTER LATEST KEYS YERSELF***********alsouthster

7 - IN MOST CASES, THERE IS NO NEED TO MODIFY ANYTHING ELSE! (zip code, password, etc.)

8 - NOW SELECT ATMEL AT TOP, THEN SELECT ATMEGA128 - AND CHOOSE ERASE FLASH/EEPROM. REPEAT 5 TIMES.

9 - NOW SELECT FULL MONTY. IF YOU DO NOT GET A FULL WRITE COMPLETED MESSAGE, REPEAT THE ABOVE ATMEGA STEPS.

10 - IF YOU RECEIVED THE COMPLETED MESSAGE - YOU CAN NOW REMOVE YOUR ATMEGA FROM ITS PROGRAMMER, CLOSE JEEPERS, AND SLIDE YOUR ATMEGA INTO YOUR IRD.

11 - IF YOUR IRD GETS STUCK ON ACQUIRING SIGNAL FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE, CHANCES ARE THAT YOUR CARD IS NOT BEING READ PROPERLY BY THE IRD OR THE CARD DID NOT PROGRAM WELL. TO CHECK, HIT SYSTEM INFO AND SEE IF CAM ID IS S00000...000. TRY REMOVING/REINSERTING THE ATMEGA. IF THAT DOES NOT WORK, CLEAN CONTACTS. IF THAT DOES NOT HELP, PLACE A BUSINESS CARD ON TOP OF THE CARD WHILE INSERTED IN THE IRD FOR A SECURE FIT. ONE OF THESE SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE. IF NOT, REPEAT AS OF STEP 1.

12 - WHEN THE ACQUIRING SIGNAL HAS DISAPPEARED AND YOU SEE A BLACK CHANNEL, TURN TO CHANNEL 198 IMMEDIATELY AND LEAVE IT THERE FOR AT LEAST 10 MINS!

13 - AFTER 10 MINS, CHECK YOUR CHANNELS. THE FIRST FEW MAY TAKE 15-20 SECONDS TO COME IN. IF NOT, AND/OR ANY CHANNELS IN YOUR GUIDE ARE LISTED RED, REMOVE AND REINSERT CARD. IF THAT DOES NOT WORK 2-3 TIMES, REPEAT AS OF STEP 1.
